Cotto probably wouldn't get more than 10 million vs Floyd. I think Mosley got like 8 or 7 million vs him. No idea what Pac would get, but it'd be a lot
You are off since you are treating PBF as a traditional boxer. That is NOT how PBF generate money. So your math is off. PBF lists his company, thus himself, as a co-promoter. He actually does not actually get a guarantee. His company gets the guarantee but also takes the business risks. He shares the cost for all the advertisements, production, insurance, administrative, security, food travel, Victor Ortiz, all undercards, even tickets, etc. Hell I think he even pays for the production of 24/7 under the HBO agreement that has been for 24/7. He pays this upfront. He then splits the PPV, gate and promotional fees with HBO and GBP. HBO gets a cut that is scaled but cuts off after certain PPV buys. Victor Ortiz is paid differently. He is paid with a "small guarantee" then any "upside". Upside is basically after x amount of PPV buys and live gate. So yes PBF pockets around $40 mil under the banner of PBF Promotions but he has also cost that is not associated with other boxers as I mentioned earlier. This is also not to mention the traditional cost of trainers, gym, travel, etc. At the end of the day PBF probably pockets 25%-35% more if he was under a traditional contract (large guarantee + upside). So he will pocket around $25-$30 million and not $40. Plus not sure where you get the Tecate and Superbowl numbers. It has not reached $3 mil, let alone $3.6 mil. Good stuff here. If Floyd does fight Pac though... let's assume a conservative PPV of say... 2.5 million buys, how much can Floyd potentially make say they finally do fight at a 50/50 split? I mean, sure there's an argument that one reason the Pac-Floyd fight is so hard to make because Floyd can make this much fighting no-names (at least for the casual fans), but wouldn't the huge huge PPV still make the fight very attractive even if the split was 50/50?
3.4 million in 2008 3.6 million in 2009 2.6 million in 2010 That's per 30 second timeslot - 60 of these timeslots available during the broadcast, work it out. And that's a 30 second commercial, not major sponsorship and naming rights for the major event. Trust me, Tecate are paying at least $10 million for that, if not $20.
Split 50/50 on a best case scenario of 2.5 million buys, after both promotion teams, HBO and all the bills are paid, both fighters would take approximately 35-40 million home.
So you're saying it's more that Floyd's promotion company gets $40M and Floyd himself get's a certain percentage of that depending on how the company is set up? That makes sense...
And that's already taking into account revenue increases from Sponsors/Advertisements as well as an increased live gate revenue? Or is this based only on an increase of revenue from the PPV?
My apologies in advance for the questions It's fascinating stuff, even if I don't personally care how much they make... it's interesting how they go about making that money. Plus it gives good insight on something that I'm sure is a huge factor in making the Pac-Floyd fight
minus the tax floyd takes less than that but then again its $40 mil guaranteed, if he makes that much then I can see why he and pac don't need each other. Pac makes less than what floyd makes probably only half or 2/3 of what pbf makes but he is living in a country which has a cheap cost of living and probably spends much less than floyd
Floyd probably got $30 million. No surprise here since Floyd is the most overpaid and underperforming boxer today. This content is protected http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163360
He's not overpaid since he generates the most interest to the sport and gets most ppv. Fighters don't get paid off of how exciting they are most of time unfortunately, it's based off of how much money they generate. Floyd makes the most money for the sport bar none so he gets the most. If you argue with that then you should stop hating
There are other boxers who generated PPV numbers/live gates similar to Floyd but not greedy to take the bulk of the fight card revenue. Floyd is overpaid and underperforming. Most people here at ESB agreed to that as shown in the poll result. How can you questioned the poll result?
But none of them generate as much as Floyd. Why don't you get that? He brings in the most money, so he keeps the most. And that poll is based off of people's opinion, I'm just telling you the facts and why he gets paid that much. It's not because he's the best, or most exciting, or likeable, it's because he's the biggest star
