It's obvious Showtime is losing money. For the next two months the only shows they have are low budget cards put on by Al Haymon's newest patsy, Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing. Floyd gets his guarantee and that's great for him and his homo***ual followers, but when the next two months of SHO are crap it will be the fans who get the shaft. I know Espinoza is a puppet, but if you gave him truth serum and asked him if he thought 3 of 4 Mayweather fights would do <1m, he'd say that's a failure. Seems like the only way Floyd can sell PPV's is with a well known Latino name like Oscar or Canelo.
The Pac structure is different. He can fight in Macau and make less than Floyd, but considering he pays far less taxes he'll still take home a comparable amount. Macau is among the richest places in the world and will guarantee a considerable sum just for Pacquiao showing up. At the very least Arum finds a way to make money. Even when Cotto/Martinez flopped he still found a way to make a slight profit. SHO might be out of boxing because of the horrible Mayweather contract.
Again, do you people really believe a huge network that's been around for +30 would put its whole company on the back of one rich, arrogant, hated, black boxer? If a bunch of HBO boxers flop HBO will still be ok though because it's not Floyd.. Everyone who is watching Floyd on Showtime was watching him on their rival network...
I tend to believe this numbers more and I like Floyd. Maidana never really had a shot at Floyd and faded toward the second half of they first fight, Floyd made more adjustments and Maidana could not handle it. I do think PPV prices are getting a bit out of hand and this is coming from someone that can afford the $78 price tag. The undercard was real weak what they should do is either go with the $30 dollar price tag for ppv they can even go $50 but that should be reserved for a super super fight (Mayweahter vs De La Hoya or Mayweather vs Alvarez)
NOPE pacquiao's last ppv did 750-800k pacquiao is now the ppv king.after that stinker in the maidana rematch jr's next ppv will take a huge hit as well.:deal
I hope this fight truly did abysmal numbers. I also hope and expect the Pac/Algieri fight flops miserably as well. It's about time for an overhaul in the PPV model.
The numbers don't lie, and the numbers say that whereas Mayweather is earning $30+M today, by next year he'll be earning $40+M/fight. TMT!
