Floyd/Maidana will do 1-1.5 PPV buys

he will do a million or more easily. dude beat broner who idolizes floyd. will sell just on that

 

Maidana is a popular fighter amongst boxing fans but he has no real fanbase in America or is there a strong Argentine community that will get behind him and buy his PPV's.

Also Maidana doesn't speak a lick of english so it's hard to market him to the American public.

Lets look at Floyds last 9 fights.

PPV Successes:

ODH - Superstar and brought a massive PPV audience with him.
Ricky Hatton - Massive UK following and was also white and marketable.
JMM - Tapped into the massive Mexican boxing fanbase,
Shane Mosley - Already been involved with massive fights and PPV's.
Victor Ortiz - Was being built up to be the next ODH and had the support of Mexicans.
Miguel Cotto - Massive PR fanbase and already a PPV star.
Saul Alvarez - Massive Mexican support.

PPV Failures:

Robert Guerrero - Didn't have a big enough profile or brought the Mexican fanbase with him.

Where does Maidana fit in?

Maidana has no real fanbase at all in America and his lack of english will be a big negative for selling the fight. He is coming off a big win over Broner that will attract some interest for the Mayweather fight but not enough on it's own to make it hit 1 million PPV sales. I predict the fight would sell around 750k/800k and if they push the boat out and get a killer undercard with fights like Broner-Khan and Thurman-Guerrero then it could well be pushed to the 1 million PPV mark.

Maidana has a bit more momentum beating Broner vs Berto, but he's not perceived anymore of a threat than Guerrero. Guerrero probably brought in more Mexican fans than Maidana will.

Following the let down from the Alvarez fight, fans might not perceive a Floyd fight as a good entertainment value.

 

Maidana has the same fan base as Guerrero, basically nothing. Khan brings a lot more to the table.

Whats 24/7 gonna be like? Maidana dont speak English, was schooled by Khan, Morales and Alexander. Heck the guy lost to Kotelnick. And again, how are they going to sell how Maidana could possibly beat Floyd? That's what sells for Floyd, a guy who could potentially beat him. Canelo had a shot because he was young, hit hard and bigger. Mosley based off his last Margarito fight seemed like back in his prime to the public. Maidana never had a prime to begin with, at least a prime comparable to the elites.

This is how fickle most people are, basing off everything off the last fight. It's like Manchester Utd losing to Southampton and suddenly Southampton is the better team?

Floyd needs to stop fckin Khan about, Khan has been waiting a long time, signed the papers, won the poll Mayweather put up so just commit to it. At least Khan has that incredible speed to trouble Mayweather, and say what you want about his losses, he has never been outboxed. Also I wish people would stop overrated fighters based off beating an overyhyped fighter, Broner was hyped in the same way Berto was hyped. Is Broner the new Berto? Beat him and you get a fight with Floyd?

 

Guerrero is a loud mouth "god is everything blah blah" puss. Dude never deserved the fight and most any decent WW beats him. Love to see Soto Karass wreck him!

 

Khan's soul has already been takien by Mayweathers games. He is done.
Maidana doesn't give a damn about Floyd and will show him no respect. He WILL ROUGH HOUSE Floyd like Ortiz but will last the whole fight. Maidana is a different animal now with Garcia as his trainer. Grandpa Garcia, Robert and Ariza are gonna create a monster that Mayweather has never dealt with before. War Chino.

If there is any common sense this fight should do worse than Guerrero.
1. No one knows who Maidana is. Even casual fans have to see that Maidana is unlikely to do better than Canelo. He's slower, has less power and equal or worse footwork. Maidana has better cardio.
2. Mexicans aren't going to "adopt" Maidana like they did ODH, Ortiz, Guerrero (I guess?)
3. Fans who actually look at Maidana's resume know what time it is.

 

Maidana gets beat up badly in a garbage mismatch I would only stream.

 

this fight is such s-hit...slow caveman maidana. He beat Broner! That kid is GARBAGE.

People know maidana wont win a single round...have a feeling floyd will stand and fight similar to cotto fight because he knows maidana is SO slow he has 0.0% chance of landing clean.
