Floyd/Maidana will do 1-1.5 PPV buys

If you walk into an atmosphere of only casual sport fans and bring up the name Marcos Maidana, they wont know who you're talking about.

The casual sportfan has caught on to Mayweather. They hear he's fighting someone they have no clue about, and they're going to automatically assume they'll be buying into another mismatch.

The media itself helped sell Mayweather's fight with Canelo as many voiced the choice to fight him was credible and Canelo was bigger with skills to speak about. Also remember that Canelo was allready being spokesman and in US commercials for athletic gear.
No such thing here with Maidana as I dont see any credible sources hyping up Maidana to have a fighting chance.

 

Mayweather is fresh off of a fight against Canelo where the media really hyped it. The people bought it and there was good cause to buy the hype.
Turned out to be a boring fight if you're a casual that does'nt appreciate the nuances of the sport.

If I'm a casual fan I think to myself, Canelo was supposed to really challenge Mayweather and he could'nt land any clean punches, now I'm supposed to believe that Maidana who has lost to several lesser fighters is going to be the one to give Mayweather a real challenge????

Broner was'nt viewed as an established boxing star by the casuals, he was viewed as a big mouth. That is'nt going to translate to Maidana and Mayweather selling PPV's.

Mayweather is an established boxing star, but I'm confident that the casuals are not going to continue to shell out 70 bucks to watch yet again another mismatch against a "no name."

 

I think Khan is way more marketable than Maidana. Floyd can run the "I will teach that arrogant Brit kid" marketing campaign.

 

And any of us care, why? This is like guessing what a movie's box office will be instead of trying to figure out if it will be good. You're paying for the fight, not making money off of it's revenue stream.... weirdos.

 

It's going to make $1.3 million+, anything less and I'll be shocked. Hell even a fight with Khan will make as much.

Maidana's opposition shits on Canelo's opposition any day. Maidana has 1 legit loss, and was never the judges favorite.

But you do have a point, Canelo was undefeated, much younger, and much bigger. El Chino is a little man going against all odds.

 

Its a complete and utter mismatch every way you cut it. Maidana does'ntheven have a punchers chance and I think even the casuals know it.

 

I haven't missed a mayweather fight for 10 years but I won't be staying up for this even though I'll get it free on boxnation unless there's a good undercard
