If the PPV sells over 2 million, Mayweather could very well make the 40 million he talks about....... .....However, I dont think thats going to happen. The fight would do well to sell about 1 million and maybe Mayweather can bank between 10 and 15 million!
40 is a bit much. If he got 12 for JMM then i wouldnt doubt he'd get about double that for a much higher profile fight.
The forecast for this PPV is huge. With PPV, international tv rights, endorsements, and casino bonuses I would say that Floyd will make more money on this fight than he did against Hatton. Personally I expect this fight to do so well a rematch will follow immediately.
the fight will do a bit more than one million. i would of said one million aswell if it wasn't for the marquez fight, which really showed me that floyd is a huge draw, so i think this fight could well do 1.5-2 million PPV buys. i think $40 million is a very big exageration by floyd, but i think he'll make in the region of $25-30 million for the mosley fight.
Mosley said he's making 15 flat, so Mayweather must be making 25-30. 40 is just plain ridiculous. Another case of Mayweather talking out his ass to prop himself up
I think you underestimate the sales that Marquez generated for with the Latino fanbase in that fight with Mayweather. Unless Marquez is put on the undercard of Mayweather-Mosley, I dont think the Latino fanbase will buy the fight at the rate they did for Mayweather-Marquez...... .......thus, I would say that the sales would increase just slightly with the non-Latino fanbase, but drop dramatically with the Latino base..... ....the end result would equal about the same PPV number, maybe a bit more than that.....in the range of 1.2 million which was the range for Pac-Cotto.
I think you need to show some stats that say Latinos made up a certain % of the buys because JMM/Pac didnt do those types of numbers, JMM/FLOYD did. But if you can show me some stats ill eat my words.:yep
Brother, all you need to do is look at the buy rates of PPV's sold by fighters like Hopkins and Roy Jones..... If they fight marketeable skilled Latino's like Hopkins did when he fought Trinidad and DLH, then the sales are fantastic.......When Hopkins fights the likes of Calzaghe and Wright, he cant draw flies....... Let me set you into reality.....if Roy Jones Jr. were Latino, he would have been marketed differently and would have been a big PPV star...... The Latino fanbase as far as boxing is concerned is huge. Now I'm not saying that Mayweather-Mosley is not going to do well because they're not Latino or fighting a Latino......but I would estimate that if either of them were Latino the buyrate would increase by about 20%. ......that or have a Latino like JMM on the undercard increases that buyrate by 20%. Thats just my honest opinion, so there is no need to go off the deep end if you dont agree. Btw, the Pac-JMM fights were at the lower weight.......history has proven that fights at the lower weights dont have the same appeal with the casual fan. ......and it was'nt until the Pac-JMM rematch that HBO promoted and really pushed those two fighters as being the very best in boxing....... The fight with DLH is what catapulted Mayweather to recognition with the casual fan and the PPV scene, and the same goes for Pacquiao.
