WTF? I just posted it. It is on the site which talks about boxing by G. Leon, it is true.****ing ***** move by Floyd, hope he gets his ass kicked tonight.
It may not be a surprise, but it sure is a disadvantage for Mosley. Everybody knows Shane likes Reyes, the puncher's gloves. Floyd talks all the time how good he is, how skilled he is but yet uses every trick to get an advantage over his opponents. A guy like Ray Robinson would never have done that. It also really shows Floyd is not all that confident in winning.I still pick Mosley by SD.
My bad to the OP.... Has Mosley always wore Reyes? Damn, what a ***** move, and his fans think it's just an act to sell tickets.:-(
You're the one sitting there describing it as a 'scumbag move' and getting worked up about people trying to defend a hypothetical situation. I bet you were one of the people trying to disregard the Cotto fight being at a catchweight as 'no big deal' aswell, am I right?
And where in that source does it say that Mayweather made Mosley where Grants? He has been training with them throughout the 24/7, and apparently it was his choice, being undecided between Grants and Everlast gloves.
No, he's been wearing Grants throughout this training camp. I think people might be reading too much into this. A glove is a glove. They don't come with airbags or side protection bars and a punch thrown with intent and several pounds of pressure will still do damage. Just a reminder that the glove won't effect the outcome. Punches will still score and both fighters will likely get hurt during the course of the fight. I think watching MMA has thrown people into a loop - would you prefer they fight bare knuckle or pound each otehrs faces into a mush, possibly inflicting real, longterm damage or death? It's safety first and besides Mosley could still KO Floyd wearing Grants brand gloves so the thread is basically pointless and just trollbait.
So you think Mosley is choosing to wear Grant gloves for tonight's fight even though his history shows he prefers reyes. Abit naive don't you think? Bad comparison with the Cotto fight, the catchweight was told before the fight was even signed. This news is probably the first we heard from an actual source with just hours before the fight.
Of course, he wears them in training camp if he is required to wear them in the fight. he must get used to it. The question is what gloves he uses to wear in his FIGHTS?Mosley stated once himself that he likes Reyes. And also, it is obvious you never boxed before. Everbody can tell you from experience that a punch with Reyes gloves hurts more than with other gloves. It is also known that Grant is good to blocked punches, for defensive fighters. There is a difference.
its interesting to hear different opinions on gloves. some say reyes , due to the type of mexican leather, loves to grip onto flesh- and cuts skin very very easily, as well as being made with a horseharia nd foam composite- which moves a bit and is a lot harder , better for punchers. and as people have said- the grant is the boxers glove, good padding for defensive fighters and so on. all in all- i dont think the glove will determine the fight- which is why they should be allowed to choose the gloves. we dont make baseballers use certain bats, they all use their custom bats. BUT the end and final fact is=- that Shane accepted the fight and those terms. you cant complain on his behalf or complain after the contract has been agreed- AFTER shane has agreed- if shane isn t complaining himself. Thats why he s the warrior he is. he just wants to fight. thats the terms he agreed to - and thats the way it always is. oscar did the same thing to floyd and now floyd has earned that right. the bigger name/draw chooses the weapons and terms of combat. love it or leave it- but dont accept it - and then ***** later. i dont see why his fans are bitching and moaning about glove this glove that- when their hero is just manning up and fighting. they should take a leaf out of their idols book.
You don't think that this was already decided or mentioned before hand given Mosley has been training in 24/7 with Grants all the time, or do you think that's coincidence. It's not a bad comparison with the Cotto fight at all. You are perceiving this to be a disadvantage to Mosley and a 'scumbag' move by Floyd, even though nowhere does it say he asked for Grants to be used. So how do you feel about Cotto not being allowed to fight at his natural weight, a weight Pacquiao fought at beforehand?
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/100429_uni_watch_boxing_everlast Oh dear. Looks like Mosley had a choice afterall.
I agree with your analysis of the gloves.Anyway who boxed before would agree with it. Regarding the terms of the fights, I also agree that Mosley had to accept them because Floyd is the draw.So it is pretty obvious Shane had no choice. It still is a ***** move and particularly annoying because Floyd thinks he is better than Ray Robinson. Robinson was a warrior, he would never have pulled a ***** move like this.
Read the ESPN source above. It clearly states that Mosley was not contracted or branded to any glove for the fight, and had the choice but was undecided - as I said earlier on - between taking the Everlast gloves or a different choice.
