I feel Floyd's best weight was at 140. He didn't pot shot he threw combos with the precise pin point accuracy. You use Castillo 1 as a judgement call to a fight between Duran and Floyd. As if Floyd hadn't learned became better and adjusted. Floyd was young and not as matured as he is now.

You talk about the Duran-Leonard fight being unfair to judge because of the weight not being good for Duran yet then go on to use DLH-Mayweather as reference on why Duran would win.

That's Floyds 5th weight class and by far not his best weight class. Dont you think thats a little bit unfair?

Hearns at 147 = Hearns mid round KO
Leonard at 147 = Leonard late TKO
Duran at 140 = Duran late TKO

I was stretching the point a little at ODLH but I pointed that out when making the statement. Okay, on the basis I'm not including SRR v Duran then I retract the ODLH shout.

Yes Floyd did mature after Castillo I and then schooled him in the rematch and I'm not knocking Floyd I think he's the best boxer of the last 10 years and possibly more (I struggle with ranking him and RJJ).

To get back to the point in hand though.

    Duran

Intense pressure from start to finish. Accurate shots and a good defence. Outstanding footwork and an uncanny ability to put his opponent exactly where he wants him, even if it takes 6 or 7 rounds to do it (probably goes hand in hand with his footwork). On the inside he was an animal and able to throw accurate, powerful combinations to wear you down and also capable of a flash KO given the power in both fists.

His weakness was with fighters who danced. But to be fair he usually wore them down and got his own way. Also an iron chin with only the Hearns fight coming to mind where he was handed his ass whilst still in tremendous shape.

    Floyd

Unbelievable counter puncher with lightening fast hands. Again footwork was excellent but in a different way to Duran, usually in that it got him out of trouble rather than putting his opponent in trouble. Proved against Hatton that he was as good on the inside as he is from mid-distance.

His weaknesses seemed to come against pressure fighters. He was caught a couple of times against Hatton and dropped a couple of rounds simply because Hatton was the aggressor. At LWW Gatti was his only real test. He absolutely boxed the ears off Gatti in a performance comparable to Ali v Cleveland Williams but this was a Gatti on the decline who many thought was overrated anyway (not me, Gatti was a B+ fighter).

To conclude, Duran gets inside Mayweather and keeps him places that PBF does not want to be. Floyd manages to sneak a couple of rounds but Duran's constant pressure and closing the ring keeps Mayweather in distance and keeps him on the back foot where Floyd cannot get the shots in that he would like to.

Regarding LWW being Floyd's best weight, it was certainly where he put in his best performance but really can 3 fights at a weight make that your best weight? Floyd's best weight for me was 130.

I disagree. Floyd would be able to outbox Duran keeping him off balance for a lot of the fight with counter combos.

To the last part. Floyd was ducked and dodged at this weight because people knew how good he really was. Cotto was deemed too green by promoter Arum and Hatton wanted no part of him. Floyd looked GREAT against Gatti, you saw the combo of speed and power Floyd had.

Leonard would beat him for sure, Duran would get brutal.
Only question mark is Hearns- I believe Mayweather has the power and ring savvy to cause Hearns problems

    Agree.

Who cares about mythical match ups though? They will never happen.

I think his Gatti comment was in response to me talking about Gatti.

Hearns whoops him like a step child...

Duran...was certainly tougher than PBF, but Floyd's bicycle would surely be a factor here also.

Leonard and PBF...I don't know how either will convince the other to do something, they play patty cake for 12 rounds...oh f*ck it, Sugar Nose Leonard.

Loses to all. Hearns KO befote the 5th. Leonard KO between rounds 9 and 11. Duran UD or TKO in the middle/late rounds.
