Yes most fans are fans of professional boxing and that is because the AMs are so different. Yes there are both called boxing but was it traditionally the same sport? Well there was the NFL, Arena football, and the CFL. All are called football but the product on the field is completely different. I have a friend who lives and dies weekly over the American NFL but despise the CFL because the rules are different and makes it almost completely foreign to him. So I guess in your mind my friend who has travelled several times to see he favourite team in the Super Bowl 2 times is not a real fan of the sport because he does love it in all it's forms?

Floyds style is better suited for the pro-game obviously.
Interesting that Carlos Navarro was one of his daddys in the ams, that guy was featured in one of the original "Knockout Kings"-games iirc.

No that's the most idotic comparision iv ever heard, id say over 90% of the worlds top boxers have fought in the amatuers . Have 90% of the worlds top football players came from Arena football and the CFL? If you want a valid comparision the amatuers is like college football which im sure your friend follows.

LOL, I knew that you were going to say that . . . lol. You just solidified my point, since the rules are very similar in US college football as the NFL he loves college football (because it is the same rules and therefore the same game). Different rules equals "different" game, CFL and NFL.

These changes have only happened over the last couple of years and most Pros today have never fought under the new rules so it has no relevance in this discussion.

The different rules are slightly heavier gloves shorter number of rounds, well considering how long the APB rounds will be that's not much of a difference and the standing 8 count rule. Essentially the same sport, , very competive and at a very high level. The reason no one follows CFL and arena football is because the quality is poor not because there different sports, Is college football wasn't where 99% of future nfl players come from and the quality was poor I doubt anyone would watch it, just like the CFL and arena football. That's the difference 90% of top pro's come from the amatuers and most hardcore fans want to have a good idea how good a fighter is before he goes pro

lol, 1% of college make it in the NFL so the quality of College ball is worse than in the NFL. I would argue given the level of athletes in the CFL and College ball that the CFL is superior, especially since the CFL also uses College football as a feeding program. What you perceive as poor quality is a difference in the rules that makes the game seem poor . . . kinda like the different rules in AMs have traditionally made it seem poor compared to the pros.

Give it up man, you already agreed with me when you agreed that 90% of fans do not care about the ams and would not join a website that followed it

Are you an idiot I said that 99% of future NFL players come from college football not 99% of college players make it to the NFL, this mean college football produces basically every future pro much the same as the amatuers do. You also misinterpreted the 90% statement , I said id prefer to have 10% of knowledgable boxing fans who watch both codes of boxing and enjoy it rather than 90% of fans who if you go beyond the top level elite fighters don't know jack **** about boxing support my argument. And college football is probably a higher quality than the CFL already but the point is as you said its a feeder system for young players, and the best ones go to the NFL,same as the best amatuers go pro. So that's why people watch amateur boxing because they enjoy it and they get too see who the best young prospects are

It's widely known mayweather jr was K.O'd in the ams and got brutalized by EE's at the Olympics. Doesn't mean much though.
