Floyd has faced some fighters that were both physically bigger than him and skilled at the same time - the most notable are Jose Luis Castillo and DLH. He struggled with both of them.

For Floyd being the best boxer of this era and the supposed 'face' of boxing, he's letting the sport down. He thinks about himself and the money, that's understandable, but he's not giving the fans the fights that they wanna see. His choice of opponents reflects his fighting style - safety first, with the occasional glimpse of courage.
The other candidate for #1 P4P best fighter however, Manny Pacquio, is constantly giving his fans and the general boxing public great fights, or at least great match-ups - and that's why he's become more popular than lil Floyd.

I would respect Floyd more if he took some really risky fights and lose them as if he continues to cherrypick his opponents and remains undefeated.

You are right, but when you read that PAc is a top 20 fighter, do you agree?

we'll have to see how the fight goes.

probably not unless Cotto goes on to achieve greatness.

It's an insult to boxing to suggest Mayweather is an all time great!!

There size isn't what caused issues with PBF though. It was the circumstances.

Vs Castillo 1 - he had a problem with his rotator cup in his left shoulder, plus had a busted rib I believe though im no 100 percent on the rib. I am on the shoulder though. In Castillo II he was healthy and beat him pretty soundly.

Vs DLH - He fought at 150, in a smaller sized ring, with 10ounce gloves while DLH fought in 8 ounce gloves.

Mayweather is also a notorious slow starter, using the early rds order to adapt to his opponent.

At the end of the day though, PBF is the most talented fighter out there. Since nobody can match him on talent the only way for his fights to be interesting is for the opponent to be way bigger then PBF to give the guy some type of advantage to PBF huge advantage in skill.

than how can you make him in your top 20? I can think of 20 fighters off the top of my head who deserve to be above him IMO of course

The irony is, he only has to destroy the winner of Cotto/Pacquaio and no one can refute his ATG status - no one. Considering this, it's pretty safe to say he is already there as an ATG.

And why not? IMHO, Floyd had already achieved that status before his "retirement". His achievement particularly winning 5 championships in 5 divisions says a lot without even mentioning beating 12 or more champs or former champs. He had a truly good run from 130 to 140, it was only in the welterweight division where he was much criticized but despite those criticism and even assuming that those are valid ones, I still think Floyd at this point of his career is already an ATG.

I don't know about him having a good run at 140 he didn't fight any good fighters at that weight. His run at 140 is worse than his run at 147

I can see your point as Floyd had only 3 fights at 140 (Corley, Bruseles and Gatti) and didn't even defend the belt he won from Gatti. He had 5 fights at WW but only 2 of those fights were against true welterweights (Judah and Baldomir) for which he was much criticized.

I think its fair to say Floyd's run at 140 was crap.
