I rewatched that fight last night in depth for the first time in years and I can say without a doubt no 130 pound fighter in history would have beaten PBF on that night. He put on one of the best boxing clinics of the last 15 years seldom seen in boxing when two top 10 P4P undefeated young fighters meet. It was a demolition job executed to perfection. He boxed beautifully his movement, his accuarcy, his defense, his counter-punching, his left hooks coming out of thin air, his ring generalship, his jab to the body and straight right hands all top notch. IMO he fought the perfect fight and had the late great Chico lost by the 2nd round. What we saw that night was greatness in the making. This fight sealed the deal for me and it puts PBF the GOAT at 130 and the best H2H fighter there as well as he would be a stylistic nightmare for anyone there in history...what a performance!
puuulleeeaasse tua-man Floyd had many great nights...but that one over an undeafeated prime chico was special.
This JUST beats his performance in the Hatton fight. From rounds 7 thru 10 in that one it was a masterclass.
Willie Pep Henry Armstrong Salvador Sanchez You think PBF climbs that mountain of names by beating Corrales?
gatti as well was masterclass...and please dont say gatti was no good cuz if that is the case nor is hatton
I agree with your thoughts on the Corrales fight, but IMO peak Arguello beats Floyd over 15 rounds at 130. And you can't rule out Chavez either. Floyd was undoubtedly a special fighter at 130 though.
Great performance by Floyd, yes. And at the time Corrales was much feared, and rightly so, undefeated and looking unbeatable. Floyd deserves full props for that one.
