great fighter though. but ****. i remember when i was young- sports stars had their flaws- jordan gambled and cheated- tyson was a bad dude, montana , sugar ray all had their flaws- but ****- they were still people you could look up to- or at least relate to. i want to like floyd- i ve followed him since i was 18- and he was 21- i ve seen him go from a well spoken polite "pretty boy" to this persona of money- and i think the change was gradual and quite contrived. i think the change was around between chop chop and the gatti fight- before then he was respectful and modest- when he entered 140- i remember on friday night fights - he said he should be ranked 4th, behind, kostya, sharmba, zab and vivian , ahead of ricky. he said 4th was fair considering where he was at- and what he had done. gatti was his first ppv fight- and with that- the attention towards him increased- and the attention on him directly influenced his payscale. since then- he s become more and more into this role- played it up for the cameras- and now its to the point where i think its more him than the original him. sort of like when a young kid acts gangsta to be hard- and then eventually becomes one- without realising it. faking it til you make it. All the **** he does- its just typical of the hip hop generation- rappers do the same **** all the time- but we expect our boxers to be champions- to be the best of us , to represent the common man- and those values. its a shame - because he works hard and is a genius at what he does. if he only knew that by being a real person- he could actually be the most popular athlete in america . thats what makes it so annoying.
best part of the episode was within the worst part- when 50 gives advice to floyd and says- "be good to your dad- he just sees you doing well and wants to be a part of that" best piece of advice floyds received. pity he received it thru a 50,000 stack of rolls makde to look like a phone- so it probably didnt get thru to the fool .
lol everybody in the world don't post on boxing forums. majority of the ppv buys comes from casual fans.
on another note- floyds wife is the biggest trophy gold digger i seen. i reckon she wants 50 **** but will have to settle for being floyds beard. she got good sturdy legs that one.
the **** was kinda pandering to a cnn crowed. it didn't feel like the fast paced documentary it usually is and definitely din't play to the hard core boxing fans.
it is for casual fans to gain interest.. They hardly show any of the nitty gritty that we want to see. The thing with floyd is he can be an emotional wreck outside the ring but when he is training he is dead serious and focused so you can tell when he is doing the real work and when he is showing for the cameras. Every time I see floyd fight, train etc I realize more and more how pac cannot beat him. Pac can't cut off the ring and he can't beat floyd in the middle of the ring bc his jab is trash.. Floyd would have to get out of character and get into a brawl for pac to win.
Damn. The Floyd haters are in full force in this thread. Floyd is succeeding in pushing his haters into a whole new level of hate. And you know what that will translate into come fight night. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sVUvpdT-NY[/ame] Mission Accomplished
nooooooooooooooooooot really. This is was the worst episode of 24/7 yet, and it's had some ****ing duds. Mayweather just doesn't have scintillating character depth he thinks he does, and the concept of wit eludes him entirely.
on every boxing forum I go to they're talking about Floyd's fight more and this one included. Unless you talking about Pacland
:yep how quick they forgot how calm Floyd was before the 24/7. He's hust performing for the camera. They asked him in an interview at the press conference this pretty much: see if I'm calm and well behaved you guys will say the 24/7 is boring If I talk trash and act flashy, then you guys will talk about what a bad person I am. So do you want the entertainment or you want the calm Floyd? a And every single reporter said the entertaining Floyd I found the clip here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuYiUFNnwR4&feature=player_detailpage#t=1225s
Exactly. Can you imagine if floyd was humble during the presser and 24/7 if floyd/manny fight each other next year?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was wondering "WTF"? about that. I was thinking maybe it's a put-on. Wasn't there an animated gif of him running looking a lot like that? Weird. :blood
