What Miguel Cotto did to Gomez

Both fights didn't mean jack **** when it comes down to it..2 super-class fighters fighting 2 super-outclassed fighters. But both Floyd and Miguel looked MEAN as HELL in their fights and they both obliterated Gatti/Gomez respectively and they should get credit only because of the way they beat the living **** out of them without being touched. I actually found it very funny because if you pop in the tape with Mayweather, the only thing Mayweather ended up with at the end of the Gatti fight was like a sore lip. And I think thats the only thing Gomez got on Cotto hehe..Anyways

Goes to show that Mayweather and Cotto are just in a different stratosphere from average C level opponents. And further solidifies the fact this is the only fight in boxing that makes sense.

could not agree more. would love this fight to happen, floyd and cotto are both ready for each other noone else at the weight could get close to beating either of them, i was very impressed with cotto last night, brilliant speed agression and bodywork, against floyd it would probably be different, never the less it would be a brilliant fight and has to happen sooner rather then later, whether it will. im not sure

Gatti was washed up when Floyd fought him (not that it woulda mattered) Gomez destroyed the same version of Gatti that Floyd did pretty much. Cotto toyed with and dominated Gomez. He coulda got him out of there whenever he wanted to, it actually seemed like he was just dragging him along a bit.

    REALITY CHECK:

Gatti was at the best point of his entire career when he fought Floyd.

Won the WBC title and defended it with two DOMINATING performances over 2 former world titlists.

You have to look at wins in their context.

I didn't mean to downlplay Gatti's career. But that "world champion" gatti was pretty much past tense by the time he fought Floyd. He was on a winning streak, NOT in the best point of his career. Physically he had lost his edge by then and he came into that fight with Floyd looking like a guy that is tired of making the 140lb division. What I was trying to say was Gatti and Gomez aren't in the same league as Floyd and Cotto and it was already proven in their fights. It goes to show what the real fight in boxing truley is.

No way in hell was Gatti at his best when he fought Mayweather, You prefer the 2005 Gatti to the one fighting in the Mid 90's when he was winning fights with guys like Patterson and Ruelas!! It would have made no difference when he and Mayweather fought as he (Gatti) would have been dominated at any point in his career. I need some of what your smoking!

Joe Calzaghe beat Manfredo with infinitely more ease than these two beat their joke opponents.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Joe Calzaghe didn't put a scratch on Manfredo  Sure he beat him early why? because the ref got tired probably wanted to go home and scratch his taint instead of being in the boxing ring reffing another worthless fight. Did Calzaghe hurt Manfredo? No that fight could have gone 12 rounds, And I really love Calzaghe he is one of my favorites but unless your just joking around or something I just find your comment completely utterly worthless.

Floyds' win was better because he had moved up in weight, Gatti was a titlist ad yes coming off a couple of his best wins. Floyd Mayweather ain't all that at 147 though. I'd say he would be very vulnerable against the likes of Cotto and Margarito.

Go and watch the replay of the Manfredo stoppage and look at the face of the refereee, he had not choice but to call it off.

He moved up to 147 to fight someone (Gatti) who wasn't a WW at all.

Calzaghe beat a proper SMW (as proven by Manfredo's run of devastating KOs at the weight).

Manfredo has a smile on his face when the fight was stopped.

Gatti and Gomez had their faces rearranged.
