After Khan beat Alexander it shouldve been Khan vs Mayweather. Mayweather even did a poll between who he shoud fight between Kahn and Maidana and Khan won the poll. Mayweather still fought Maidana. Mayweather struggled vs Maidana and did a rematch with Maidana. The the Manny Pacquiao fight followed by the Andre Berto fairwell fight.
Khan was fast, but his offense was relatively predictable and he had the ring IQ of an eggplant. Mayweather adjusts to Khan's speed after a few rounds and proceeds to pick him apart. Mayweather 117-111.
You’re probably right, but Floyd wasn’t as confident. Otherwise he’d have fought Khan when the fans were asking for it.
Yawn. It would have been like every other Khan fight. Has success early. Gets greedy. Gets timed and stopped
Maidana had the style, temperament and gameplan to be dangerous and bother Mayweather - as we saw in their first encounter. Realistically, what is Amir going to do - knock out Floyd? No. Wasn't going to ever outbox him, either. Not sure where you even see a path to victory for him. Maidana not only made business sense it was actually riskier. Duck schmuck.
Worth the watch. IMO, Khan ran his stupid mouth so loud that is cost him the biggest fight of his life. Dude flat out lied that the fight had been signed... This content is protected
Mayweather walks down Khan and stops him in the 2nd half of the fight. Khan may win a few of the early rounds but eventually Mayweather gets his timing down and stops him. Khan was fast but he was often sloppy with his combos with no power.
Floyd amways was extremely carefull abiut his zero past dlh. He avoided khan cause he saw something he didnt like. Floyd only fought when he was 100% sure and had the deck stacked completely in his favour considering ring, gloves, ref, judges, weight and even roids. It was all a hustle for him and he wasnt taking no risks.
Khans speed would have given Floyd Fits especially early on, but once Floyd figures him out he starts lighting Khan up with lead left hooks and straight rights down the pipe. It becomes a beatdown late and the ref waves it off around the late rounds 10-12.
Floyd v Khan would have/should have happened but despite what his fans wanted he did not take the Khan fight, this fight would have attracted the Asian interest and made Floyd big money, however for what ever reasons Floyd did not make the fight and hence why threads like this pop up on Boxing forums questioning why the fight never happened .
I believe it. Maidana would have been looked at as crude and 'easy work' by Mayweather. Khan had speed and good reach, it's a bad matchup. Khan isn't the toughest but Maidana couldn't stop him so it's no guarantee Mayweather could do it. Mayweather isn't Canelo at 160 who can KO Khan with one big shot.
The last sentence was quite the opposite. Yes Floyd put a poll on his twitter page between Khan and Maidana and Khan won. However ESPN, Ring, Dan Rafael all did one too and Maidana won those by a landslide. People were actually saying Floyd manipulated his poll for Khan to win and he would duck Maidana. It’s important to remember that Maidana was fresh off the victory over Adrien Broner and was as popular as he could be.
Meh. Rather meaningless imo. Khan would have been dealt with and didnt present a big enough threat for me to care. And Id have to go back and look, but usually the guys Mayweather didnt fight was because they were losing fights. Also, think he chose Maidana ultimately due to Maidana having just bounced Broner in one of the premier fights of the year. Cant blame Mayweather for wanting to one up Broner, who was supposed to be his 'heeir apparent'. Then he graciously rematched Maidana because the first fight was so close. All in all it was an understandable fight to not happen imo, the outcome isnt in much doubt to me, and I dont view it as very legacy changing one way or another.
