I stopped pretending to believe in "pound for pound" a while ago.
Ali was one of the top heavyweights of all time, maybe #1.
Mayweather Jr. was what ? maybe #1 at "130 pounds" . There's no comparison.
Floyd spent the last 8 or 10 years of his career, huge fights, at welterweight. And he would be lucky to crack the all time top 15 at that weight.

He's top 5 at that weight with ease.
Mayweather may be a ***** and unlikable as a person, but as a boxer he's as good as they come, certainly far better than Ali.

That should be Ali. He might have more wins against guys in the top 5 than Floyd has ever guys in the top 10. I think so.

I dunno you know, he was fighting for straps for 17 years. And the thing is, he was moving through weights so he had way more top fives available if that makes sense. I think it would be Ali but i'd like to do or see the numbers.

Which is why it would be a virtually meaningless stat.

I did a count for Ali at some point from the monthly rankings Old Fogey put up. From memory the number of wins over top 5 opponents was somewhere in the 20-25 range.

For Floyd off the top of my head: Manfredy, Corrales, Castillo x 2, Gatti, Judah?, Baldomir, DLH, Hatton?, Mosley, Cotto, Canelo, Pac

That's 13, with one or two I'm not certain of, but I've probably missed some as well. Don't think he makes 20 all in all, though.

You act like an uneducated 10 year old who resorts to insulting people who disagree or contradict you

Just you Johnny. If you quote one of my posts and say something really stupid, I'll call you stupid.

Yes, 20-25 is insane if accurate. It might be interesting to see how the likes of Robinson and Armstrong measure up to that.
