Name me 5 active fighters with a more impressive resume. If is resume is really weak, you should be able to name a ton of fighters with a better resume. How exactly do you consistently get ranked as one of the 10 best fighters in the sport for over 10 years by having a really weak resume? Mayweather came in second for the fighter of the decade award. So how do you get considered to be the second best fighter of the decade(mind you he took 2 years off in the decade) if you have a really weak resume? Floyd is not as good as he claims he is, but he's a lot better than many on here give him credit for.

He really didnt get beat on... He actually did a good job... He had really good defense... It was a premature stoppage... In my opinion

All i will say is this if Ray Robinson fought in this day and age.

He im 90% sure would maybe have names on his list from

    Welter to Middle.

    Names like

    Mayweather
    Mosley
    Dela Hoya
    Trinidad
    Hopkins
    Taylor
    Pavlik
    Cotto
    Jones Jr
    Williams
    Margo
    Forrest
    Toney

Now call me a idiot but if he beats all them which Heah 2 Head i see him doing that list is better than any other modern day fighter.

In fact it doesnt come close.

H2H how many guys do you see on that list giving Ray Robinson the fight of his life.

Get the **** out of here.

    Overated.

    I really hate that ****.

Because if it wasnt for these boxers today fighters wouldnt get the big ****ing pay days they get.

    These guys paved the way.

And to think most fighters of yester year fought over 100 Pro fights in there career.

And people question oh but Ray Robinson lost 19 times. Yeah but if you know your maths Ray Robinson took fights on short notice he fought guys sometimes that would out weigh him. He also if you do some sipmle maths fought 4 times as many times as guys like Floyd and because back then there was one belt you couldnt aviod top fighters.

SO ****ING WAKE UP AND REALLY THINK,

If PBF or Pacman had to fight like that with only one belt and fight sometimes up to 10 times a year you think there records would look so ****ing good.

It takes a while but people eventually learn boxing isnt all black and white.

Yes some people always pick the old day fighter but thats no different to the people who always pick the modern day fighter.

Fact is the truth is always somewhere in the middle..there are positives and negatives about all eras, fighters, and styles.

Somethings have gotten better, some things have regressed.

Some fighters from this era beat some fighters past eras and vice versa.

All these new fans have a very narrow view of the boxing world because they just dont know any better..They percieve any praise for fighters of yesteryear as nostalgia, they think any critical talk of current fighters is ripping on them...you just have to be patient with them, because they learn eventually and If they dont well you just ignore their rants. I was much like them myself when I first started following the sport, and looking back its just because I had so much to learn about the sport and still do..

    Thats it well said.

I like both Modern and Older but some fans have to learn respect for such fighters they have never even read a book on or seen footage of.

I mean if Angelo Dundee comes to me and says Ali was the best Heavyweight he ever saw im going to believe him as he would have seen a hell of alot in his day and he knows more about the fight game than you or me.

The people who say Floyd couldn't even get in the ring with Robinson are every bit as bad as anyone saying Floyd's the greatest of all time.

I'd definitely favour Jones and Hopkins both over Robinson, head to head.

Edit: Mayweather, Mosley, De La Hoya, and Toney, all give him excellent fights.

Trinidad, Pavlik, Cotto, and Margarito all get knocked out.

Taylor and Forrest lose on points.

How do you assess Robinson against the fighters in the post above?

I see it pretty much the same as you, though Taylor gets stopped.

Roy would beat him but put Roy back in his era where they have to fight multiple times and Robbo has like 45 rounds in which to land an equalizer then it could get interesting. In a modern day fight that relatively clean and over 12 Roy gets him just about every time...Id pick Roy over any middleweight under his own eras rules.

I reckon Nard vs SRR is about 50-50, I give Nard the slight advantage because of his size.

Toney would probably take a fight in a series against him...those wouldnt be easy for Ray but his has the tools in his kit to beat James at middle.

Even Nard doesn't pick himself to win over SRR.

Void does not deserve to carry Robinson's jock strap.
