Thanks. He's trying to justify it with the 'i need to believe i'm the best thing', but there's been cream of the crop fighters all throughout history who idolised other fighters and wouldn't say they were better than them. Like Ali with Robinson etc etc.

When we say Sugar Ray Robinson is the best it's not just some consensus bandwagon thing.

I have alot more respect for a fighter when he doesn't have a problem admitting when he thinks someone was better than himself. Because there has to have been, at least at one point someone mr. money looked up to. I really think it was Sugar Shane too, and now Mayweather is embarrassed to admit it cause he's "mr. rich I'm a hard ass thug who's better than everybody" now.

I've never disliked Floyd. I can't help it though, i do now. I always state on the classic that i think he gets underrated. He's quality, especially from a technical standpoint. It's embarrassing to think he is better than Sugar Ray Robinson was though. The footage that we've had for years of Robinson PAST HIS PRIME shows that, couple that together with the footage of him (that hit the net long ago) in his prime in (i think) 1946, and you'll see what all the hype was about, and how much we really missed out on with the lack of prime footage.

I assume you mean Sugar Ray Robinson in the twilight of his career?

No. I mean if you take a prime 147 pound Floyd Mayweather Jr. and a prime 147 pound Ray Robinson, Floyd taps that ass. That is what I mean.

Yes it is. It's impossible to name one fighter as the greatest ever. Many people have simply jumped on the SRR bandwagon. Most who say he is the best aren't even old enough to have witnessed his career as it happened. You need to be able to do that in order to get a true understanding of how good someone is. Tape can only show you so much.

My mom just told me the samething, LOL. But, seriously, I don't think it is as farfetched as most people do. I think a couple of modern fighters could of competed or even beat Ray Robinson. Athletes progress and get better as time goes on, not vice versa. Jordan was better than Erving, Bryant is better than Jordan, and one day, some kid will come along that is better than Bryant. It is just the way things go. One day, somebody will come along and I will say, that guy is better than Floyd was. And people from my generation who will be speaking about Floyd the same way y'all talk about Ray Robinson will call me crazy. Furthermore, to be completely honest, I don't even think Robinson was the best "Sugar". I believe that destinction goes to Leonard but, that is just me.

Kobe is not better than Jordan was, and LeBron is better than Kobe.

I know, thats why Kobe has 4 rings and LeBronski has Z E R O, LOL. Kobe is twice the player LeBron is and is better than Jordan.

If we're going by rings, Jordan has 6 compared to Kobe's 4. Bill Russell has 11, so he must be better than anyone. Kobe was Shaq's sidekick for for 3 of those rings. To say Kobe is twice as good as LeBron and better than Joradn is delusional. Then again, you're from Cali. I can't expect you to have an objective opinion on the matter. Kobe is nothing but an imitation Jordan. LeBron is a whole different player entirely.
