Let me just reiterate the fact that I too, have massive repect for Mayweather as a fighter, he is one of the Greatest we have today. And whether we agree on the quality of his opposition, he has defeated everyone he has fought for a reason, He's damn good.

But I started this thread out of sheer annoyance of the attitude he portrays to the public. Yes I'm sure its an act but I simply would like to see him let the thug/Blown up idea about himself go, and simply act his age. Being confident in yourself and thinking your the best is one thing, but acting the way Mayweather acts is another.

Its probably impossible to do that with any kind of ranking...but it doesnt stop people from doing it. It comes down to opinion a hell of a lot of time and any way you want to look at it a lot of people are of the opinion that Ray deserves his accolades.

Robinson's argument for the greatest ever is as good as any. Though Ive probably had him less at number 1 then other on my personal list since Ive been doing them.

Floyd is a genius. He KNOWS this comment is going to get people talking and look at whats happening. For the record he's not greater than Robinson in my eyes and is on par with Ali but regardless.

I never hear the current Los Angeles Lakers say, "The 1988 Laker team was better than them".

I didn't heard the Yankees say that the 1996 Yankees are better than them.

I never heard Michael Jordan say Wilt was better than him.

Do you get the point?? I personally wouldn't want ANY athlete to THINK someone else is better than them. Oh yeah, Floyd explained that but his hate faction are still crying, got it..

Yeah i get you for sure. If there's a thing that pisses me off about him it's his selective amnesia. This whole 'money' thing and being the cash-cow. This happened because of his win over Oscar. That's not that long ago. Before that he was struggling to be a house-hold name and to have real commercial appeal etc. He used to be really pissed off with his purses etc, didn't he make some 'slave contract' remark about the value of his contract in comparison to one of Naz's? Sure he did.

Now as soon as he beat Oscar and broke the mainstream, the word 'humility' is scratched from his vocabulary and the struggle to become the huge name is forgotten, and he's going round telling people they can't fight him if they aren't on his commercial level (or some bull**** similar to that).

I admire him though as a boxer. Probably similar to yourself.

But Jordan etc who you've mentioned did have the attitude Mayweather has about everything you ask them. Their demeanor did spark annoyance that Mayweather's does, yet people like Jordan will never stopped being talked about because of his skill, not his mouth.

You can interview the Yankees, or Jordan, and their replies with questions wont finish with "But it doesn't matter I make more money". You know what I mean?

Nar, i see it like this. The fact Mayweather has got us all debating is good for him, but it's good for us and boxing also. I love this ****, that's why i'm a member of a forum. This is good. Boxing discussion is great. So it's not like Floyd has got one over on us boxing lovers or anything!

    We all win, nahm sayin??!

Thanks my man, My wife nearly actually cried when we found out Gatti died. I have gloves signed by him and Ward.

I'm not kidding when I say I really get attached to our fighters and I don't even meet most of them.

    I'm obsessed with boxing.

He also said he was better than Ali.....depends on how you define "better". Technically, he probably is better - but in terms of who Ali defeated compared to Floyd...he ins't.

I see what you're saying but frankly to me it's a phony persona of his that he uses to sell tickets.

It's literally from the pro wrestling handbook. I remember when Floyd was fresh out of the Olympics and was promoted as a media darling. However, TOP Rank had Dela Hoya who for obvious reasons they were promoting more. Combined with Floyd's style isn't exactly appealing to a casual fan who doesn't appreciate the nuances of boxing. So he decides, "I'll be the heel/heavy, etc" and look now, it's working..

Im a fan of Floyd's but a lot of it has to do with his skills. All the talk I can easily put aside because again it's an "act".

How many so called "GOOD GUYS" have been promoted as such and we find out that these guys are hardly that?? Thats why I don't get why people get so riled up with what he "says".
