I have been boxing for 13 years. I have studied boxing for over half my life. I know the sport of boxing. And I absolutely believe Floyd was faster, more technical, had better footwork, and much better defense than Ray Robinson. I have 30 complete Ray Robinson fights in my collection plus, many highlight tapes. Ray Robinson is one of the greatest. But, in a dream world where a prime 147 pound Floyd Mayweather Jr. fights a prime 147 pound Ray Robinson, my money is on Money.

I respect your opinion bro....especailly since you have been apart of the sport for so long. So it means more to know you are not just a floyd fan without any kind of knowledge of boxing. But you know I respectfully disagree. Floyd is a great boxer without a doubt but I think he's beneath Robinson in almost every category except technical ability.

You cant compare boxer of today to boxer of the past because boxer of today are generally better... more knowledge, better technique , easier access to information and trainig technique... better nutrition.... so you know the question should be: was SRR more dominant in his era than Floyd is in his.

Very tough call, floyd mayweather totally destroy p4p top 5 Marquez... he also have victory over all of fame fighters. and if he beat Mosley easy it solidify his spot among the all-time great. I mean Mosley is commonly referred as the p4p #3 and he is currently at his best weight so there is no excuse if Floyd dominate Mosley. it will just show that FLoyd dominate his sport aside of Pacman

Ok. I get the fact you "say" you dont think SRR is better than Floyd, thats what the forum is about, difference in opinions, and debating it out when people dont agree.

But cmon man, some of the **** you've been posting is just so blatantly far from logical boxing explanation. I mean when pretty much the whole non biased part of the forum is wondering the same thing about your posts, its kinda hard to hate on EVERYONE.

    Let me ask this,

If Mayweather fought in SRR shoes, in the same era, vs the same people, with the same # of fights, and Floyd was still Floyd (has the same exact skill he has now), do you think he would have finished with a better record than SRR did?

This is why I do not think you are trolling.

Legit thoughts on the subject of a dream fight. :bbb

I wonder what they would call that match up if it did happen...

that a myth and bull****, there's not been a better fighter since Robinson, with all this modern training bull****, I think boxing been on decline since mid 90's, boxing as a whole that is (there has been great fighters but most of the best today are from the mid to late 90's, Mayweather, Pacquioa, Mosley, Marquez, Hopkins etc)

Nope. I think he would of had equal success. But, in a head to head matchup, all the fights in the world don't mean ****. I'm not saying Floyd has accomplshed more, I'm just saying he is better.

You don't need to prove to me that SRR was better, I know he was.

Again, the argument that I'm presenting is not that Floyd is better, it's that fighters should believe that they are the best ever. Every fighter should have the attitude that they're the best because the second they don't believe it, they'll lose. I've heard so many boxers say that they're fighting to prove that they're the best. What's wrong with that?

I have refrained from comparing them in a head to head match-up because i don't think it's fair. Mayweather proved to be a top level operator in my eyes at 130, Robinson has a clear natural size advantage.

But seen as though people are actualy putting out this absurd madness about Mayweather beating Robinson, i'll break my silence.

Sugar Ray Robinson had very possibly (probably?) the greatest offense in history. His attacks are so calculated, rapid, precise, it's actually silly. An opponent may cover the head, and catch three or four to the body, cover the body and catch four to the head. I'm talking combos of power shots, not flurries. No defensive minded fighter ever beats him, his attacks are indefensible.

Most great fighters, even the likes of Sugar Ray Leonard, Kid Gavilan etc etc, don't (consistently anyway) throw combos right off the bat in centre ring, before there are developments in the chess match. It's jab, feint, subtle movements, jab, to create leverage or openings, momentum to then open up with combos. Sugrar Ray Robinson would just throw blistering combos right away before any developments had taken place, and they were accurate, right in centre ring to body and head. No defensive minded fighter ever beats him ever in his prime. Mayweather is truly great, but don't be silly with this ****.

If a guy at one of Robinson's (on his best day at the given weight) weight classes it is someone i'd pick it's Hagler. Think about it, he had a great chin (LaMotta), he was strong and rugged (Fulmer), he could impose himself (Turpin), he could work combos tremendously (Basilio). At his best at welterweight i favour nobody.

PBF has a lot of haters and for good reason, He talks the talk but does NOT walk the walk. If you're gonna claim to be the GOAT you gotta fight and beat everyone like Ali did.

Ali is so underrated when it comes to these p4p lists. His resume is impeccable.

But theres a difference to what Floyd was saying and what he meant.

Have you ever heard him say any fighter was one of the Greatest the sport has ever seen.

Floyd disrespects the sport and the fighters who paved the way for him to even make this sort of money.

And he doesnt give a ****.

You wouldnt hear and this true.

Michael Jordan saying oh Oscar Robertson wasnt no were near as good as me im the Greatest that ever lived.

NO no other sports heroes you see today slag off the Greats that have come before them

    ONLY IN FLOYDS world.

Ever heard another QB slag on Montana.

Ever heard another Hockey player say Gretsky got nothing on me.

    You get my point.

They need to arrogant and confident just like a boxer needs to be but there is a HUGE difference.

Floyds a Wank and im not surprized that he has fans after some of the fans backing him that ive seen at ESB.
