But Errol Spence Jr is nothing like him . I heard time from time boxing fans claim " Errol Spence is the next Floyd Mayweather , you watch " How so ? :huh Spence Jr is a dynamic fighter with aggression , killer instinct and solid punching power . They don't fight like each other or act like each other inside the ring . Both men are sensational fighters but I fail to see the similarities between the two . Do you feel Errol Spence Jr is the next Floyd Mayweather ?? Do you guys see any similarities ? :think
They fight very similar to when fmj was his age, the only true difference is their stance. Todays 40 yr old fmj is nothing like Spence or a mid 20's fmj
That is correct . Mayweather early in his career was a lot more offensive compared to this version we been witnessing for the past 5 , 10 years . As he moved up in weight divisions . He become more cautious, a safety first fighter . Very calculated. Spence Jr wishes he had the superior defense Floyd possesses
His best win is over Algieiri who is a respectable fighter . I can see how some would view Spence as untested . He has not had the chance to showcase his skills against elite competition yet . Me personally , I feel not 1 fighter at 147 can beat him . Spence Jr would wreck any WW in the world today .
WT.F are some of you smoking? Floyd has never fought anything like Spence. The only comparison is that Spence could be the next big money fighter in the sport and thats where the similarities end. I like Spence but i want to see him in with a guy who can test his chin. Sure hes looked great but he has fought absolutely NOBODY!
some like to fight some like to box. boxing takes skill. fighting takes a couple of winos with a attitude.
Errol is an excellent fighter. He's still unproven at this point outside of his destruction of ALgieri, but he'll be able to show his world-class level once he's able to get the top guys at WW in the ring with him. FWIW I rate him skills-wise as the best 147 lber and I think he beats everyone who is currently campaigning at that weight class- that includes Thurman, Porter, Broner, Brook, Khan and the rest of them. He's a well rounded fighter who looks like he has that killer instinct in him. As far as Floyd- I don't know why he's brought up in this topic- they fight nothing alike. Floyd is one of the greatest fighters who ever lived. He's probably one of the 5 most skilled fighters of all time as far as offense/defense/ring generalship goes. For those mentioning that Floyd runs around- it makes me wonder when you started to follow his career. If people only started watching him aroiund the time he became a PPV star- i.e. the DLH fight- than I can understand why they have such a skewed perception of him. But before he ever made his foray into 147-the guy fought as a professional for 10 years at the lighter weights- he was an absolute killer. People for reason forget what he looked like as a SFW/LW/JWW fighter. The guy was regularly compared to Sugar Ray Leonard for his offense and was known as a guy who if he got you hurt, he'd go for the kill. I'd tell people that call Floyd a runner to look back at his one sided destruction of a great SFW in Genaro Hernandez, his 2nd round TKO of Angel Manfredy where he threw approximately 20 straight punches without Angel throwing anything back at him, and his absolute massacre of Chico Corrales which culminated in 5 KD's and a late round stoppage. He was never a one punch KO artist at the lighter weights, but he packed enough power to hurt people, and if he had you hurt, he'd close the show. He obviously doesn't fight like that anymore- the only 3 examples I can give where he looked superlative offensively since the DLH fight was against Hatton (masterclass performance,) Mosley (same,) and Cotto. He's been very defensive minded outside of those 3 matches. Can you blame him though? He's been campaigning in his 4th and 5th weight classes for 10 years now (with some layoffs in between,) against guys that naturally outweigh him by over 10 pounds on fight night. I always maintained the notion that if he stayed at JWW after destroying Gatti, he could've had a lot more KO's on his resume. He went after the PPV cashcows though and the bigger money fights at WW and JMW, so I can't knock him for that.
nothing a like in fighting style. Spence jr is pretty wreckless at times but he needs time to grow. He reminds of floyd early days but thats it. He needs to learn some defensive skills to be like money.
