By the same token Ali was technically flawed but it did not stop him being the greatest did it.

But he did get beaten by Frazier who happened to have style that caused him problems, didn't he?

you make some fair points here but you know im not gona agree with you dontcha?! :bart

we'll see on fightnight what happens but, being as stuborn as i am, even if floyd himself told me he was gonna get whipped by mosley, i still wouldnt agree. i think it will be a boring fight but a technically fantastic boxing match with floyd being the points winner. i also predict everybody saying that floyd is a coward for running from mosley in the ring and not being man enough for standing infront of shane long enough for shane to get his shots off. :good basically, we will see mayweather vs de la hoya all over again

Oscar stood in front of Mayweather at times and did nothing. Mayweather stood there and threw fast singles or 1-2s. Oscar waited, unable to punch anymore, and watched. Three years before that, it would have been a different story.

Mosley, even faded as he is (and Floyd's a little faded too, going on the Marquez fight), will not just wait. Not with Nazim in his corner saying "jab, jab, jab - go to the body. Hit him on the shoulders, the hip, anywhere - wear him down and break his body."

It might not work, but it won't be the same. It will be boring however.

Floyd can't afford to do what he did against Oscar. Floyd won't just wait on him, he really won't.

maybe this is where primadonna kool is coming from... i dont think it makes a difference if he can afford to do what he did against de la hoya or not, i cant see floyd doing anything other than keeping his range and fighting a defensive fight, so maybe THIS is why he is technically floored... because he cannot fight any other way? :think hmm... interesting!!

Floyd can fight pretty much any way he chooses. He's fantastically skilled and supremely adaptable, but he has trouble with guys jabbing him. If Shane does commit to his jab, which Nazim had him doing against Margarito, Floyd will struggle. He stands off, doesn't engage, and won't move inside to neutralise it. Against Oscar he stepped back to avoid a right cross following it.

But Floyd taking the initiative against a guy who isn't afraid to throw punches and is as fast as him... not a good plan either.

I think the point I've been making in long-winded fashion is this: Floyd isn't flawless. Shane is up against it, but there are things about his style that make me think he can win. If Floyd beats Shane, he'll have nothing but my admiration - as long as he makes it convincing.

floyd will counter all night if he has to

the man is brilliant at changing his game plan during a round not just a fight

Makes you wonder why he didn't change his game plan through rounds 6-12 in the first Castillo fight :think

The way some of you talk, it's as if you think there is no way to beat Floyd. It's a lack of perspective based on nothing more than him looking good against shot, limited or significantly-disadvantaged opponents.

When he's faced someone who can over match him in some way (Judah's speed, Castillo's physicality, Oscar's jab) he doesn't look so good. Mosley presents two out of three of Floyd's problems in one package, plus I bet he's working on that jab along with short combination punching, rather than wide hooks.
