Floyd is not a Traditional BOXER. He is unorthodox and if you actually watched boxing he did the same thing Roy does. DROP HIS HANDS FAR AND WIDE AND INVITE THE OTHER GUY TO PUNCH TO COUNTER. A boxer would never ever do that. Roy did it, Floyd does it. **** even Calslappy does it to a lesser effect and they are all natural boxers. Unconventional. :D

Floyd is naturally talented but I don't see that he's that naturally gifted. If he was 'naturally gifted', then he would have been outstanding even as an amateur. Floyd WAS outstanding as an amateur, but if you've seen some of his amateur fights, he isn't really doing anything that a LOT of talented fighters couldn't do when they were 17.

Floyd did do a Roy Jones impersonation in that fight. Calzaghe does the same thing as of late in his fights. Drop his guard wide and invite the guy to punch and give them a quick counter. Floyd also did the JT on the inside. Playing possom letting Hatton bully him around and baited him to the foul. Veteran style. You have to watch a whole lot of boxing and know what is going on to catch it. Even the way Floyd went to the jab on round 9. He did it from a weird posture. That was something new. :D

i think that some of floyd's "speed" is really just good timing, which comes from training, something he's done his whole life to an insane degree, even compared to other pro boxers.

You might want to watch the Mayweather/Corrales fight. You'll see on several occasions where Diego gets nailed, and even dropped, with left hooks as he begins to drop his right hand while trying to throw a left. Jones was a fast fighter, but if you think he's that much faster than Floyd, you're overrating his speed. As far as reaction time goes, you could make an argument either way. Personally, I think Floyd's is a little better. Polls don't mean a whole lot to me on this site. Bias on this site tends to cloud people's judgement.

are you implying that mayweather would still be where he is today if it weren't for roger and floyd snr? And i dont think comparing floyd to roy helps at all. Floyd has obviously shown more depth in his learned strengths than roy did.

I have seen the fight. And it doesn't change my opinion. And I have never said that Jones is "that much faster" or substantially faster.

As for not agreeing with polls, subjective arguments like these throughout sports history are always decided in the court of public opinion.

So when I see Mayweather land 4 straight right hands with power in under 2 seconds. I guess you can train to do that.

I don't think anyone can get away with saying that. Floyd Sr and Roger were both pro boxers themselves. If you watch them fight, you can see EXACTLY where Floyd's success comes from. Admittedly he executes better than either Roger or Floyd Sr, and I'm not sure WHERE that lead left hook came from (still working on that one! :good), however Floyd's defensive skills are straight out of what his father used to (try) to do. And his offensive comes from Roger, this is obvious. Floyd throws that right hand JUST like Roger used to do, though better of course. Roger was very crafty at sneaking it in, like Bernard Hopkins is able to do, and after a few years with Roger, Floyd has been able to do the same thing.

Origionally I said that they have comparable speed. So if you don't think Roy is that much faster than Floyd, then I guess we have nothing to debate about on that issue. Back to the polls. Unfortunately, this world is filled with irrational, illogical people. As a result, many of their opinions should be taken with a grain of salt.

Training for a fight is intense. It does not make you able to land 4 right hands. In combination. As if that has happend before. Stupid ass
