Hi I've never really taken to Floyd due to a combination of his personality and his past refusal to fight those other fighters considered (by him & his advisors) to be a threat. In the 2nd round of his fight with Mosley,he demonstrated a tremendous ability to recover from being hurt, great awareness,a fighters heart and will to win.....everything that a truly great fighter must posess. In terms of his future opponents: 1.Paul Williams ~ I cant see Floyd ever taking this fight because Williams is too tall,a southpaw, has tremendous conditioning and stamina and has an incredible punch output. 2.Segio Martinez ~ A southpaw whose is very similar to Pacquiao...would give Floyd a real test I believe. 3.Timothy Bradley ~ Presently undefeated, strong, intense, great conditioning. If he gets past Maidana,is deserving of a fight with Floyd. 4.Devon Alexander ~ Some have suggested he's too inexperienced but if you're GOOD enough you're ready! If Floyd opts to fight any of the above, particularly williams,Martinez or Alexander, all credit to him. I think Martinez is possibly the most attractive proposition for Floyd as he currently holds two titles at two different weights. I do feel Martinez would give Floyd a helluva fight and because he posesses a similar style to Manny, would give an indication of how sucessful Manny could possibly be against Floyd. Here's hoping Floyd continues (as in his last 2 fights)to face the best opposition out there and leaves no doubts about his place in boxing history.
I agree with your reasoning up until you said Martinez would be an indication of how Manny would do. Manny is a good 5 inches shorter.I believe Martinez is 5'11". He also is more of a boxer,Manny is a boxer/puncher. Martinez is a slick fighter and you can't necessarily say that about Manny. The 2 weight champ coupled with lineal Middleweight Champ has a lot of appeal to it.
i hope he fights Martinez, i think this is the hardest fight out there and winning the lineal middleweight title would do wonders for his legacy
Paul has great workrate, but he does not make the most of his physical advantages. He is far too slow - expect to see an equivalent of Mayweather v Corrales II if this fight comes off. Martinez is good, but he would look incredibly slow in comparison to Mayweather. Don't let the last few rounds against Pavlik deceive you, that only flatters Martinez and tells you nothing about how he would cope with Floyd. It's a bad style matchup for Sergio, it would be a very easy night for Floyd. Bradley/Alexander? I'm not sure, I need to see more of them. I've got a feeling it would be a too far too soon for both of them. Floyd wouldn't deserve a great deal of credit for fighting any of the above. The only fight in the vicinity of 147 that is worth making (from a fan & legacy perspective) is against Manny.
