Baldomir - Lineal WW Champion - 13lb weight advantage over Floyd, coming off a winning streak without a loss in over 8 years.

De La Hoya - #1 ranked WBC LMW champion. Coming off a KO win over Mayorga at his proper weight. 20lb weight advantage over Floyd.

Ricky Hatton - #1 ranked Lineal LWW champion, on the p4p list, undefeated.

JM Marquez - #1 ranked Lineal LW champion, p4p2 (or p4p1 as most felt be beat Pacquaio) - coming off two KO wins over opponents who previously were never KO'd.

Shane Mosley - #1 ranked WW Champion, p4p3. Coming off two brutal KO wins at 154 and 147 against the previous #1 WW.

    Next up:

    Manny Pacquaio!

While it doesn't tell the whole story I agree that Mayweather is often unfairly criticised regarding his past opponents.

I can't believe the Baldomir fight was only five fights ago. It feels like a life time since that fight happened.

So, it doesn't matter what weight they're from as long as they're the top at that weight? If he fought Darchinyan would it be "the best around" or what? And Mosely being p4p 3 is just self-serving Ring crap. Although the arguably best welterweight out there, of course. Anyway, we all know his opponents. And?

    :-(

Look. No matter how you sugar coat it, Floyd's choice of opponents in the last 5 years he's been a Welterweight, does not match up to the talent he holds. But f*ck it, that's the past now and that can't be changed. He has the chance now to redeem himself by taking a different approach in the final few opponents he faces before retiring..... Mosley, Pac, Williams, and Martinez would be a tremendous curtain call to his career, and stamp his status as the best fighter of this era

JMM 141 - Pacquiao 145 (Pac got outboxed)

    JMM 146 - Mayweather 149 (Mayweather dominated)

Hatton entered the ring bigger than Mayweather.

Boxing is done by weight, not height. Hatton was bigger in the ring, but only by a about 5lbs. The minor weight difference wasn't important anyway, the skills of each fighter determined who won that fight.

I'm aware it's done by weight. But you said he was bigger. Heavier isn't the only criteria for who is bigger. Otherwise Rahman was "bigger" than Wladimir Klitschko when they fought and now James Toney is bigger than Eddie Chambers. If Hatton was heavier, it doesn't mean he's the bigger man.
