I think Baldomir was a little better than Margarito. His punches were a little straighter and chin nearly the same. Baldo also beat Clottey, someone that gave Margorito a very hard time.

Clotty also gave baldo a hard time and was winning when he they awarded baldo a bull**** DQ victory. Margo is levels above baldo or anyone PBF has ever fought at WW. Actually, margo's win over cotto is better than anything pbf has ever done imo.

RIGHT AND TYSON IS STILL THE BEST HEAVYWEIGHT...FLOYD WOULDNT' BE NUMBER 1 BECAUSE OF POLITICS...IF HE NEVER RETIRED HED STILL BE NUMBER 1...AND FLOYD NEVER SHUTS HIS MOUTH IF YOU HAVENT NOTICED....U NEEDA STEP IN A RING AND BOX TO SEE WHAT THE SWEET SCIENCE IS REALLY ABOUT...FLOYD WOULD BOX CIRCLES AROUND TONY..NOT SAYIN FLOYD IS STRONGER--BUT I AM SAYIN FLOYDS TECHNICAL SKILLS ARE ON A LEVEL TONY COULD ONLY DREAM ABOUT

You'll defend Mayweather Jr until he reaches his grave.

I don't have a problem with that, but Antonio Margarito is better than any opponent Floyd has fought at 147lb. No hype needed. Margarito proved himself in the ring when he was the first man to defeat Cintron and Cotto. Stop discrediting fighters who don't handpick opponents.

When he was at 147lb it has been well documented that he was more interested in getting the bull-**** belts than proving to be "the man" at 147lb. He never proved that in my opinion, and I think that's justified once we look at his resume whilst he was campaigning exclusively at Welterweight. Nobody here is obligated to dislike or like the man, we all just have our own take on how he managed his career. You appreciate his business brain, I appreciate he went up to 147 and won titles, but did it without fighting anybody above B level.

 :rofl  :rofl So his win over Cotto is better than PBF's wins over Oscar, G.Hernandez, Chico or JLC 2x? All 4 four these guys will be in the HOF one is an ATG and G.Hernansez is an ATG at 130.:deal

His win over Baldomir made him the #1 fighter at Welterweight which means the best fighter at Welterweight, just like people wanted him to beat Hatton to be considered the best at Light Welterweight the fight with Baldomir was the exact same case. Only difference is that Baldomir wasn't hyped as Hatton was so people try to duck facts here whilst forgetting that Mayweather's move to Welterweight was for a megafight with undisputed champion and extremely highly regarded at the time Zab Judah who was coming off an impressive unexpected(Yes, Judah was the underdog) victory over Spinks, it's not Floyd's problem Judah lost to a fighter people didn't know much about. This isn't a popularity contest and some fans need to know that, if it was then the hype surrounding Margarito would've gotten him the #1 spot LONG ago which it didn't and only did recently against a guy recently moving up from Welterweight and regarded #1 when Margarito fought.

His move to Welterweight was the undisputed title and Zab Judah, a fighter highly regarded at the time and a fighter many claimed Floyd is scared shitless from, much like Margarito now and Cotto a few ago and whoever else they could approach because there is a difference between hate and true criticism. Whoever he beats would be considered a bum if they lose, that's the logic here, much like Ali in his day, Tyson, Lewis, RJJ and all the other great fighters. If Judah dropped the #1 spot to Baldomir then it's not Floyd's fault, people wanted that fight to determine who the best was when Margarito was busy living in delusion island with his WBOgus title.

Floyd's intention was clear, he didn't want to stay forever and was losing interest, that happens to all fighters and in a dangerous sport like that when you have no motivation you're better off out or dead in that ring. He moved up for a big money dangerous fight against Oscar also to grab his 5th world title, moved back down for a megafight against Hatton and a fight many wanted then went back to retirement. Is there any shame in that?, I don't think so, it's not like Margarito has done anything extremely major before Floyd's retirement to seriously change Floyd's mind, if anything Margarito was coming off a LOSS to Williams and that hype was slowly drowning till the Cotto fight happened and that's when Floyd was long gone already.

Levels above Baldomir?, care to explain those "levels" please?
If anything both are on the same level when it comes to physical ability, only difference is that Margarito is younger and has better stamina/activity. What levels are you talking about?, it's not skill what Margarito does in there, it's elite stamina and ability to take a punch. If he runs into someone that has stamina and decent skills he would be in serious trouble, like he was against Williams. Margarito hardly knows how to cut off the ring and breaks his opponents down because of his ability to take punishment and his ability to keep throwing, which means he has two things only but they're SO good that actually does make him dangerous for anyone he runs into. Sadly once those slightly fade he's immediately in danger and an easy target.

Then again I'll ask you, please define those "levels" he's far ahead of Baldomir and all the other Welters Floyd fought.

Comments spoken by a true PBF hater with an axe to grind. PBF is an ATG whether people like you or him chose to accept it is irrelevant. You don't get to be named Ring fighter of the year twice P4P top 10 for 10 years P4P #1 for 3 by having just a good career.:deal

The only win of PBF's career that is as good as Cotto was the Corrales win.

Spoken by a true imbecile, making the infantile mistake of defending your favourite fighter against an attack that isn't even there. Bog-standard behaviour here in the Fanboys Playground.

I completely agree that PBF is an amazing talent and an ATG. However, his resume is not great IMO. That was the point, made objectively, nothing to do with my love or hate of Mayweather.

Do you disagree with my points on this??:

    Floyd Mayweather Jr at 147:

    TKO6 Sharmba Mitchell
    W12 Zab Judah
    W12 Carlos Baldomir
    TKO10 Ricky Hatton.

Sharmba Mitchell was a decent fighter but not much better, and was coming off a defeat to Tszyu where he had been floored 4 times at 140.

Carlos Baldomir is just never a fighter I have rated at all. He lost a stack of fights early in his career, got a bit of form going later but against mostly poor opposition, KO'd a small and ageing Gatti, and was somehow rated. But I don't believe the guy was ever world class quality. 9 career losses, 5 by KO, should support that, as his resume does not contain many world top 10 ranked fighters.

Zab Judah? When he fought Floyd he was coming off a loss to ****ing Baldomir!! He'd also lost to Spinks and been KO'd by Tszyu, and he was never a full-sized welter. I think now Judah has been exposed as a pretender. The guy has lost all of his big fights, and lacks heart and a winners mentality. A good win but no better.

Ricky Hatton? A super performance by Floyd, but Hatton was **** at 147, as he proved by looking dreadful and struggling woefully v Collazo.

And so, I suppose it was legitimate that PBF was ranked no1 at welterweight while he was there, as someone had to be no1 as the division wasn't settled, there was no undisputed no1 for him to fight, and PBF was p4p#1 in '06. But the standard of opposition he fought in no way means he was a clear, strong no1, he never ruled the division or anything of the sort. He didn't fight there long enough, and all the guys he never got round to fighting were all better than the guys he actually did fight, I'm talking about: Margarito, Williams, Mosley, Cotto.
