Are you serious? Tell me you're joking. Clearly, this thread isn't intended to incite a serious discussion. Why don't I just start a thread asking where Paulie Malignaggi stands amongst the sport's all time hardest hitters, and then act surprised when I get a bunch of sarastic responses?

You're the only person I responded to. The only reason I did that is because you seemed surprised that no one was giving a serious respone.

 

I was surprised that so many people were stooping to the thread starter's level and insinuatng that world class operators like Margarito, Cotto, and Cintron are worthless.

ESB has such a great reputation, but sometimes you have to wonder why.

 

Cintron is not a world class operator, I don't know what gave you that idea. Anyway, I will agree that it isn't neccessary to bash those guys conidering they really don't have anything to do with the thread topic.

Baldomir was, is and never will be an ATG, but he was hot and alot of people thought he would beat Floyd. Floyd handled him with ease.

 

Not really. Depends who is ranking them. Plenty of people never considered Margarito a champ to begin with so unless he beats Cotto this weekend he will not be rated as all when you are ranking 147 champions as the opening post suggests.

If you are going by the lineal title, margo does not count as a champ. If you are going by the ring title, marg does not count, if you are going by the IBF, WBC, WBA, marg does not count. The hall of fame does not even consider WBO (though I am sure that will change when it's time to induct DLH) so by their standards Marg was never a champion.

 

What does it matter ... he was the universally recognized as the undisputed champion by the public and the ring magazine ... he also beat the reigning undisputed champion and if it weren't for a shady purse - he wouldve held all 3 belts.

Not many fighters ... even ATG fighters can say that they've been the sole champion of a division and reigned supreme w/o any disputes.

the lineage is there ... it goes back to 2001 ... and up until now has been held by someone.

No other fighter now can say that ... you can discount Baldomir all you want but no fighter now has achieved such a status ...

Right now there isn't a champion in the division since the retirement of PBF ... you can dispute all title holders ... and argue about who you think the man is ... but when Baldomir reigned there was no other belt holders, just him ... the WBA was vacated ... the IBF was tainted ... those are the 3 major belts with the most prestige.
