dibella is right on all accounts. however, the real power in this sport is hbo. they can refuse to buy any fights until these two get together. greenie is probably the guy that can make thsi come together just by blacklisting those two until they fight.

negative on that..HBO holds a lot of cards but they aren't the solo body in everything....

they are huge, yes...but the promoters are the ones who have the logistics to make the $hit corrupt....Arum and King been doing it for years...Oscar seems to be learning the promoter tricks these days too

that wont accomplish much as they would just go over to showtime.

showtime ain't paying what they are used to making. even if it was ppv, you are going to have hard time selling public on a fight outside of pac pbf especially when you do not have the 24/7 which is probably the single most powerful driver of their high ppv sales.

i'd say that series adds 50 pct more ppv sales to them as well as increasing their exposure. showtime has fight camp. sorry, fight camp is not 24/7. their viewership isn't close to hbo. not tos ay tehy won't explore showtime option but financially its not going to pay even close to what they are used to.

basically this fight gets done if pac does the drug testing. i mean seriously...christ. nobody is going for mosley pac cuz ssm got dominated by pbf. you can't really hype berto up either. this guy barely got by collazo. i mean, cotto 2 sounds more likely and that is just depressing. but hbo will block everything and i give it 50/50 for it to happen in may. if it doesn't then there's no hope for it and both of them should just retire cuz there are no fights left for them out there. the only reaosn why even got to this point is because hbo signs on to fights like jmm-pbf and pac-marg/clotty because hbo is lured into the whole building up the fight and then backtracking into playing one agains other trying to get this fight together.

also theres a good chance pbf is just waiting for may to let his body heal, to have more time off vs pac, and tax related issues. etc etc. his racist rant led me to believe he has every intention of fighting in may and since he is on a per fight promotional deal...we'll see who he chooses as his promoter.

well if hbo was to stop putting them on as was suggested, showtime would be better than nothing wouldn't it ?

Let's hope it's to talk Pac fight. Logically it should be easier to make with DKP, with all the bad blood between GBP and TR.

lets say you make 25 mil a fight from fighting margarito through hbo hype machine. showtime doesn't have the hype machine. also lets say pac fights someone like berto on showtime. considering clottey did 700k with no 24/7, i'd estimate you'd be lucky to make that much on showtime. Also, it would make your buying power seem weaker in future negeotiation. the only reaosn why hbo even signed on for both fights is that they were hoping they would get together and build each other up.

the whole pac/marg was hbo trying to even up the score on negeotiation table with floyd. arum even knew this. now that pac did 1.2 mil ...i thik pbf did 1.5 mil...its an easeir discussion. pac will take drug test and we got ourselves a fight. thats if floyd wants it. i pretty sure he's not afraid, i think he's timing it and finding right deal. with that said, beyond may 2011, if this fight isn't made it won't be made and both would have hurt their stock too much.

i'm not on anybody's side, however, i think the notions propogated in the media are so distorted. floyd isn't afraid of pac. pac probably isn't juicing. lol. the reaosn why this fight wasn't made first time was cause pac ran for office and couldn't fight in may. arum coulda probably sucked a few more dollars out of hbo as well just like pbf did with the jmm fight.

it all really makes sense if one is used and familiar to these negeotiations. did you really think both sides are stupid? they are posturing up. if it doesn't happen in may 2011, both fighters are done. they would have damaged their stock too much.
