In one of the papers today, there was an article quoting Mr.Mayweather as comparing himself to Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. Reason being that he demanded that both he and Manny Pacquiao tke a drug test before their aborted fight, and that this was a declaration of equality in the spirit of these great American icons of the past :huh:lol: Now,pardon me if I've missed something here, but his does n't quite have the impact of Rosa parks not moving to the back of the bus,or Dr.King marching on Selma Alabama. Nor Malcolm Little undergoing a religious and social awakening in prison, completely changing his life, and that of others. Unless Floyd envisaged himself singing 'We Shall Overcome' to exercise his bladder muscles, while having trouble producing a urine sample. If I thought that he was joking,I would n't have written this post. Did anyone else read this today ?

He's a f'n ****, with no knowledge of societal history, and a resume that doesn't touch the top 50 fighters of all times boot heels.

An utterly distasteful character to boot.

Floyd has some nice skills, but he is an overrated fighter who would never have kept hold of his beloved zero had he came on the scene twenty or even ten years earlier. And he is a monumental **** of a guy, a liar and a cherrypicker supreme.

“But it’s me taking a stand for something that means something. And it’s for the fighters who are up and coming. It’s sort of the same stance Martin Luther King and Malcolm X made, so we could have freedoms, so everybody could tell the world that we’re equal. The only thing I’m saying is that we are equal. So if you’re not on nothing and I’m not on nothing, then let’s go take the test. That’s all I’m saying." FMJ, Grand Rapids Press

It seems that the *** has a dream too :patsch

Hes not even on the same level as Floyd the Barber when it comes to intelligence or importance and hes comparing himself to icons like Malcom X and Martin Luther King,Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Yeah, it sure is dumb for him to compare himself to MLK and Malcolm, but ........... he's right about the drugs tests. If we're going to have drugs tests in boxing let's have the proper ones, and we can only guess as to why Manny Pacquiao refuses to agree to proper Olympic-style testing ..............

Listen if you hadn't noticed Floyds a boxer not a politician. I swear if Mayweather was a ******, into dog fighting, had losses because he was a fat ass and ofcourse was a brawler with 1% of the skills he has he'd be loved on here.

Part of the reason hes hated is because hes the figurehead of the sport and is held to a higher standard, Cocky and Black (YES - the most hated of combinations), and talks dumb **** without first engaging his brain. Aside from that and a huge ego he is friendly and decent enough to those that encounter him, I've known plenty everday types that meet Floyd and everyone said he was likeable, some said crazy in the sense hes hyperactive and 'he makes it rain'

All this cherry picking nonesense, is nonesense, Floyd like any other fighter has gone out to make the financially biggest fights he could time and again. This is what everyfighter does because its a business

130 - he made the 2 biggest fights out there in Corrales and Hernandez.
135 - he took on the no1 Castillo twice, while chasing Delahoya and Mosley
140 he got outbid by Hatton/Warren for the Tyszu fight, fought the biggest money fight in Gatti, tried to make a Hatton fight immediately after
147 made the biggest fight in Judah, Hatton became the biggest money fight fought him. Is now fighting Mosley after Pacquaio walked away from a 50% offer of a fight
154 - biggest money fight was ofcourse DLH

Floyd hasnt gone out of his way to make high risk low reward fights, neither did Sugar Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, even Duran and Henry Armstrong avoided certain fights

Having a false sense of ability and trash talking doesnt stop Fleaboy from being a fan of Froch, it doesnt stop most of you from being fans of other cocky fighters.

Is he an icon? Ofcourse he is, like it or not, Floyd Mayweather is boxing today.

Nothing to do with cockiness, it's how he's held in such high regard that irks me

In case anyone on the thread needs schooling

    Robinson/Armstrong avoided - Burley/Williams/Cocoa Kid
    Leonard/Hearns/Duran avoided - McCallum/Pryor/Kalambay/Graham/Benn

High risk, low reward fights, so we don't hold it against them too much

Mainly because of who they did fight. It makes up for it.

Floyd hasn't made up for his lack of top line opponents. Are we really gonna' have this argument again?

You rate him. I don't. Agree to disagree?:good

Robinsons resume isnt that strong though, he kept rematching Lamotta after Marshall beat him. Not only that but Marshall said the rest of the Murderers Row would beat him. If that was Floyd continually rematching a man coming off a loss to a clearly superior fighter, who said other, he'd cop serious criticism in the general, yet its 1 of Robinsons best wins. Today Lamotta would be considered 'cherry picking'

    Double standards

Floyd has fought very comp whether you like to admit it or not, I cant be assed to go over it again, but hes fighting his 9th Lineal Champ in May

Boxing is different today, in my opinion inferior. Hence why Robinson gets more kudos.

Floyd=80-90 on my alltime list. Not based on bias, but on objective analysis of his career thus far.
