the guy's just full of himself. no fighter no matter how good he is, can kill a sport as old as boxing singlehandedly. IMO it will take a lot of people (promoters, sanctioning bodies, etc.) to kill it, they could start by adding more titles per division.

    That's ridiculous.

I am not in the US right now, but if he left noone in Europe would care that is for sure. Super Six makes up about 80% of boxing interest in Europe these days. In Canada we have a great thing going with Diaconu, Bute and so on. Boxing is going well and noone cares about Mayweather for one second.

Outside of the US - no one will think for half a second if Mayweather retired - again.

An American can tell us if Americans would care at all. Non-americans for sure wouldn't. Floyd is good, but he is no Ali, Tyson or anything near that level of importance. Nowhere near. If the Super Six stopped - this would have a much much bigger influence and would cause much more frustration than if Floyd retires. So much more that it cannot even be compared.

i agree, his retirement didnt even affect the WW div. that much. it lost some depth but far from being dead. unlike when the likes of tyson, lennox, and holyfield got old. HW started to look like **** and started to deteriorate (no disrespect to the Klitchkos).

The sport did not change at all when Mayweather was gone. It was almost better. We had some good fights. Mosley/Margarito, the Cotto fights. Williams came more on the scene. He added nothing and still doesn't. He handpicks his fights and wins boring decision. Boxing is dead without him? No way. I would honestly rather he retire and not fight, so boxing can have real champs who fight them all.

Boxing will be fine w/o Floyd. It was the first time he retired.

He should just leave again anyways...The sport needs less prima donnas and more boxers looking to test themselves all the time against the best available.

No one, and I mean, "NO ONE" is bigger than the sport of boxing.
