    FIGHTER OF THE YEAR
    The Ring is pleased to announce that world welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather has been selected as Fighter of the Year for 2007. Mayweather fought twice in ?07, winning a 12-round decision over Oscar De La Hoya on May 5 in Las Vegas to capture the WBC super welterweight title, and knocking out Ricky Hatton in the 10th round on December 8 in defense of the world welterweight championship.
    It is the second time Mayweather has won the honor, having also been The Ring?s 1998 Fighter of the Year. The award dates back to 1928, when heavyweight champion Gene Tunney was the first recipient.

    Also, the WBC and Yahoo sports has recognized the Vazquez-Marquez fight as the "fight of the year"

    what a way to cap off a monumental year. imagine if floyd never fights again he will have retired with the same honor he captured ten years ago..quite a feat.

    :good nobody deserved it more that PBF....Two high profile fights that brought boxing back to the mainstream and he delivered in both...Congarats to "Money Mayweather"

    Can't argue too much with that pick. There were many deserving guys out there, but beating Hoya and Hatton in a single calendar year is pretty amazing.

    Congrats to Floyd Mayweather on this award: he did his part in putting boxing back on the map and performed exceptionally well in his first two superfights.

    However, I disagree with the pick, but I wont go into that. So props to PBF. I disagree with comeback of the year and knockout of the year. I give those awards to Vernon Forrest and Wilson KO11 Nwodo.
