Thoughts on the result of a 12 rounder betwixt these two welters, Floyd pushing the top end of his weight range and Walker at the bottom of said same.
You know there is only one socially acceptable politically correct classic forum answer and any naysayers shall be publicly ridiculed....not sure where this one can legitimately go.
Walker had some incredible wins, especially in the higher weight classes. Knocking out Arthur De Kuh in 1, and beating Levinsky, Uzcudun and Risko. Amongst other really impressive wins. And he looks awesome on film. But he lost several fights in and around the welterweight division. Just looking at his record it seems that he was better suited as a MW. He is a legendary and incredible fighter, but I don't think he defeats a maniacal WW perfectionist Mayweather. Floyd was too consistent, too tactical, and too smart. Admittedly, I'm not as up to speed on Walkers career as I am with Floyds, and there are probably some nuances I'm missing. But my money would be on Floyd.
Interesting match up. I would favour Walker, due to the physicality and dyanmism he possessed, but I could definitely change my mind. I think, in simple terms, Walker could do what Maidana failed in. Not an easy one though. Interested to see some more knowledgable responses.
