I feel that if Tyrone Everett had lived he would be mentioned in the same breath as Sugar Ray Leonard, Pernell Whitaker & Mayweather etc.

I was just wondering what everybody thinks the outcome of a Mayweather jr v Everett fight @130 would be. I personally think Tyrone was slick enough to confuse Floyd (especially being he was a southpaw) and had enough power and speed to deter him. That being said I could see this being an incredibly close fight and I can't seem to pick a clear winner in my mind :huh.

From what Ive seen from Tyrone it would be a massive stretch to say he beats Floyd but I am far from well versed on the guy..Wasnt around long enough at the top to really make this a fair comparison seeing as though there is almost no one I would pick over Floyd at the weight.

Was a shame he got capped by the mrs..By all accounts and from what Ive seen of him a very good talent.

Whatarock I know what you are saying about experience but Everett handily beat Escalera (at least to everyone but the judges) who gave Arguello hell twice. He also was the only man to knock out Hyun Chi Kim who lost a split decision to Ben Villaflor for the WBA 130lb belt the fight before. I, like you agree Floyd Mayweather jr is the greatest 130lb fighter who ever lived. I just think when you have a fighter as slick and talented as Tyrone Everett from what I have saw and heard I think it would be a hell of a fight:bbb.

I think that "Ty the Fly's" speed and southpaw skills would certainly have given Floyd a considerable amount of trouble, would certainly have made him the most formidable challenger that he faced at 130lbs. I guess that one would have to use the Judah fight as a sort of template, and take into account at 130 was not only Mayweather's best weight...but also a weight where he would was most inclined to take more chances, and to be more aggressive.

With that in mind, I can see Floyd pulling out a very close decision with a late rounds surge...Though this is one instance where I could see why others might pick Everett to win.

I think that Floyd is the best H2H super featherweight of all time. I've only seen one Everett fight and that was a while ago, so I'll DL some fights and see. I do think that a Southpaw with speed and power could be Floyd's kryptonite, but he fought like an orthodox Winky Wright against Judah and it worked out beautifully. Floyd's ability to adapt mid-fight makes him a nightmare to gameplan against.

Saw Everett fight a couple times live and he was a great BOXER who had a chance against anyone at 130. His brother sucked though. The word on the streets of Philly though was that Evereet sucked for real.:rasta

Everett definitely could've been a superstar and he absolutely was robbed against Escalera. But it's a different fight against Mayweather. Mayweather is better off the back foot than Escalera and it certainly could stunt Everett's offense a little. It wouldn't shock me if this turned into a Leonard - Benitez tactical type affair. I like Mayweather by a close decision.
