When Hatton applied pressure he knocked him out ... when Oscar did it he almost got knocked out and got his knees buckled a couple of times.

Its comparable to a tall tree that can throw back punches ... yeah the tree would be hard to break but it won't be hard to hit ... and if you factor in scoring points into the mix then it wouldn't be hard to get a UD on a tree who's just there to get hit and is always in front of you ... yeah it might punch back but not to the point to where its going to be effective.

Only reason I got the Cotto fight a toss up is because at times Cotto elects to brawl which is just Margarito's game.

Its common sense fellas ... if a guy is coming forward in a straight line and you have a guy like Floyd who is very illusive -- the it makes for target practice. Floyd is so good at side stepping, pivoting, and using different angles --

Good, you're making progress. A bit more work and you'll eventually come to understand that, not only his % would drop, but his total volume of punches as well. Keep up the good work, Lance, I have faith in you. :good................................

I know you're trying to be a smart ass or funny, but if that's all you're gonna do, then this is a waste of time. All you've done is said is some boxers connect rates drop when facing this defensive genius. Wow....no one else ever saw that Mr. Atlas.

The reality is, you have no clue whether his total punches would drop. Drop from what? His last fight? His average? Most fighters punch outputs go up and down. The opponent will dictate how many they throw. They vary while staying near an average. You trying to post how you know his output would drop is just fanboy talk. You know it and I know it.

The one thing u didn't mention lance is Mayweather adjusted to all of those fighters. That's one of Mayweather best weapons. He's one of the best at adjusting to a fighter. Mayweather by UD. He's better than Margarita in every department. The only thing Margarita has over him is power.

True, he was able to. I think Mayweather would need to outland Margarito to win. And I don't see that happening since Mayweather isn't as likley to take a chance getting hit. Since Margarito will be all over him, Mayweather defending himself most of the time while only throwing 20-30 won't be enough. But I will admit, he could find his stride and tag Margarito while not getting hit himself more often as the fight progresses. That's possible. But just don't see Floyd taking chances against Margarito. And it would hurt him at the end. Margarito already has s mental edge over Mayweather.

I think he would have the mental edge over Mayweather, but alot of those fighters did too, until the 2nd or 3rd round. Once Margarita see how faster and how elusive he is, that would cause some frustration for him. I feel Mayweather approaching this fight with the Corrales fight mentality. I say that because Mayweather always come to fight, especially when critics feel the fighter he's fighting has a chance to beat him, or feel the fighter is the answer to Mayweather style. He's at his best when it's like that.

I'm more of a Margarito fan than a PBF fan . . . sadly I think PBF will win this. The anticipation of how it will turn out is pumping me up.

That's why I'm so ****i'n mad that it didn't and won't ever happen.

:-( You're regressing now Lance, allow me to explain the basics.

We're forecasting boxing matches, right? It's a bit of a futile exercice given that we should have better priorities but, just for sake of argument, we do it nonetheless.

I don't want to trouble you with complicated thoughts but there is this mathematical thing known as "predictability of events" - check it out.

Basically it means that past events may bring the forecaster to believe that future events should unfold the same way.

Now if your counterargument will always be "how do you know for sure?" you need to ask that same question about your own arguments.

You stated that Mayweather's volume of punches has diminished over the years and provided punchstats to back it up - HOW DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE? "The reality is you have no clue whether his total punches would drop. Drop from what? His last fight? His average?"

All I did, Lance, FYI, is I completed the information and by doing so presented evidence that Mayweather's lower workrate should not change the expected outcome, should he fight Margarito.

You have to come up with something better than your usual ad hoc arguments which you change every time you lose track. :-(

    Good summary.

Margarito isn't all that different to Hatton stylewise - and you saw what happened in that fight.

Mayweather wouldn't be able to KO Tony, but a UD for me :deal

Those number there are pretty accurate in describing how many people here on the forum actually know boxing, you cant say that everybody here truely knows the sport, and out of the Floyd votes the Majority of those votes more than half are not based on logic or reasoning none of those cats really sat down and thought about how the fight would play out, they just clicked a button out of being the traditional fan boy BS.

The truth is nobody knows for sure what the outcome would be becuase the two never fought, put it to you this way, When Douglas Was set to fight Mike Tyson, had we had the internet forums back then how many people do you think would have voted for Douglas to win?

Not many, However what people dont realize is that Douglas wasnt that bad of a fighter he did have some decent skills he had good speed he was ranked legit by the WBC IBF and WBA, he walked into that fight as a 42-1 underdog, yet he was able to win, when all of the experts said he couldnt or wouldnt that he didnt have it that mike had so much of this or that but guess what? Douglas not only stopped Mike Tyson but he dominated Mike from pilar to post in each and every round.

Again this goes back to my initial arguement, Skills do not always win you fights, sometimes it comes down to what a fighter is made of, what he has inside, either he has the balls to suck it up and press forward or he doesnt, Margarito has shown that he does, Floyd has yet to do so and beleive me Margarito wants it bad enough to make it that kind of fight for both men.

of course your going to say that your from Grand Rapids Mi, its not like your using any logic or reasoning behind your arguements, your going for the home town fighter:good

Nothing wrong with that, but I would advise you not to sleep on Margarito should your boy get some balls (Other than Ellebres) while he is in retirement.
