Mayweather is too slick. Cotto tried to be slick and evasive and he dominated the first half of the fight but it wasn't natural for him and he got tired and started to get caught and worn down. Floyd is close to untouchable, he made Hatton an undefeated champion look C Grade. Margo is just to slow for Mayweather and would lose a boring one sided clinic.

You're right. I got that wrong. It was offered in Jan 06.

I mistyped the first time, don't know what was going through my brain the 2nd time.

Nearly 3 years. Still a long time. :D

    I stand corrected. :deal

I just do not see Mayweather taking the necessary risks in this fight to grab and maintain a lead. His last few opponents haven't even pressed hard when he backed up. Hatton, DLH, Judah..all backed off. Due to Mayweathers sharp punches? Hell yeah. But they got discouraged, and were more tenative in their punches. I don't think Margarito will get that way. If anyone will, I see Mayweather getting discourage by his punches not doing anything. They aren't going to slow him down at all and if Mayweather puts more oomph on his punches, the liklier he is on hurting his mitts. Mayweather will have to fight very hard for 12 solid rounds. Can he in his state of mind? Thinking you the greatest will not stop the guy in front of you fight night.

Margarito will take his hits, but Mayweather will too. That cannot be denied. And not for as many punches Margarito throws, but just where he attacks. The body. It will slow Mayweather down over a tough, grueling fight. It's easier to dodge a constant headhunter with Mayweathers defense then a body puncher.

If Floyd is going to attack, move, backpeddle, attack, move, backpeddle, attack, move...for a whole 12 rounds would be tiresome for even the most conditioned athlete. Be hard to hit Margarito as much as he'll need to if he's moving much more then he's used to. And he is not as active as he used to be or even at this weight. Margarito makes guys more active in their punching. Him missing punches isn't going to slow him down that much because he's not a head hunter. He'll attack and smother Mayweather.

But I know Mayweather CAN win. If he can commit to being a lot more active then he's been, he can win. I think it will come down to how well he can make Margarito miss up close. That's Margarito's bread and butter. This will not be a fight with distance between no matter what anyone say. Margarito will be in range the entire night, aside fom running to catch up. But if Mayweather can employ an effective enough combination of jabbing, sticking and moving while getting good, clean punching as well as in counter, and still standing his ground at times, because they will happen he can win. Mayweather's tough enough, and stubborn enough to win a fight, landing the sharper punches against a tougher, bigger man. He might not be pretty after, but he'd be REAL money. :yep

Not that all, you want the information go look for it yourself, that simple. Everyone knows about this offer very well and that includes the true Margarito supporters. As I said, if you weren't following boxing when it was released then it's not my problem.

Do you even KNOW what a legit offer is? I swear, some of you argue just to argue.:patsch

And you've still never addresses any issues which you think would simply vanish if Arum pulled his PPV at the LAST second.

What about you Scar...you think Arum could have just EASILY stopped his PPV two weeks before it went on? Or has common sense finally prevailed?

Mayweather was still with Arum at the time so obviously Mayweather had talks with his own promoter about it.

There probably wasen't even an offer at all but it would of been the biggest payday for Margo. Arum would of got the exposure for Margo and had a new opponent for Floyd. And you really think Arum cared about that PPV? He broke EVEN on the PPV. Which didn't make much. Less than 25k buys at 30$ a pop.

And dont give me that Margo had no time to train, he would of had a fresh camp.

When common sense prevails to the majority of Margarito fans then maybe it will with me.

Here's my post regarding that in this very same thread if you haven't checked it out.
