What if after beating ODLH, Floyd moved up to MW to fight Abraham for a title?

I think Floyd would have a good chance of winning here. Abraham wasn't a particularly big MW, and he was slow.

If Floyd himself thought he had any chance of pulling this off, he would have tried it.

But he didn't so there's your answer :)

You guys forgetting that Lajuan freaking Simon went twelve against prime MW reign Abraham? :dunno

I could see Mayweather having wanted to do this so he could one-up DLH getting the gift over Sturm. And stylistically, this isn't a bad day at the office for him. AA stayed in that high shell for long stretches with minimal output, and wouldn't be hard to keep turning on a spit and pot-shotting with body jabs.

Floyd wasn't beating any MW's, especially not one that sturdy. 154ish was his physical limit. And that's ok............

fights like this occur w/ virtually everyone in boxing.

Floyd wasn't a fast starter himself, but would/COULD be up 3-4 rounds after 4. That was when AA amped it up. However, to be fair, that could be a difficult hole to get out.

Floyd does not have a punch that would hurt AA at all IMO. Especially at 160.

What does Abraham being sturdy have to do with him getting eluded and pot-shotted with body jabs under his turtle shell for twelve rounds? There's very little chance of Abraham catching Mayweather flush with any power shots that Mayweather doesn't feel like getting hit with. You're talking a lumbering, tepid-workrate, not terribly accurate guy chasing a smaller quicker iron-chinned defensive wizard. I'm not really sure how people can even see a path to victory for AA? :dunno

I see Floyd making Abraham look foolish at points with his speed and counterpunching ability.

Again: the ability to "hurt" Abraham bears no relevance on this.

At welter Mayweather didn't have the ability to "hurt" Baldomir, or DLH, or Mosley, or even chinnier types like Cotto and Judah either - still defeated them all very clearly. Using a blueprint that would be even easier work against Abraham than it was versus any of those guys. :deal:

154 was PBF's limit IMO but PBF could possibly outpoint him over 12 but it would be very dangerous. Abraham had legit power and would rock his boots if he caught PBF flush.

Mayweather would have a few moments of discomfort due to the size difference and Abraham's power but would win a fairly easy decision. Huge difference in talent and skills.

There are lots of guys I wouldn't see Abraham knocking out from as far down as like 140lbs. If you're small/quick/elusive he isn't that dangerous. His work rate is abysmal, he never was great at cutting the ring off, and his punch selection was a bit wonky and he telegraphed like crazy at times.

I think some of you are remembering him with rose-tinted glasses. Yes he was powerful, but we only really saw that become a factor against basic slow come-forward middleweights.
