this is the type of top level fighter floyd would look best against. a predictable puncher who needs to set his feet to throw power, and who is easy to hit as long as you dont trade with him. floyds arms reach down to his ankles, so he would just pot shot tito to his hearts content, knowing all he has to do is step back or off, to force a reset. tie him up if he gets in, rinse and repeat.

I must say this is one of the best unbiased analysis I have seen. I love both guys and we do know for a fact both guys were unbeatable at 147 pounds and even 154 pounds. For some reason some dont want to give Tito the respect he is due and some even dont want to respect Floyd. Both guys beat Oscar De La Hoya without controversy. 2 alltime great fighters.

Trinidad was not able to KO Pernell Whitaker or Oscar De La Hoya. A close decision Trinidad being a natural big Welter will be the favorite, would like to see Floyd in 130 fantasy fights instead.

Tend to think Floyd wins this one going away. Tito had problems at getting past a jab when people didn't oblige him. He mainly tried to make them lead, or throw his cross-counter. Neither would work against Floyd, as he'd know not to lead, and he was wayyyy too fast and savvy to be worked over by such a basic counter.

Floyd (pre retirement) likely stutters his jabs and goes to the body with them. He didn't quite put his punches together as well at 147, but he could still hook off the jab or follow up off a right with one. I imagine he potshots over Tito's hooks and comes back with his own hook before moving on.

I am consistent though, I tend to think that there was a reason that the Forrest and Quartey fights never happened.

Sometimes I think the speed differential will make it extremely one sided like Corrales vs Floyd without the knockdown, but then others I remember just how relentless Tito would put on the pressure in the championship rounds and I'm not sure Floyd can command his respect.

Keep flip flopping in my mind.

Tito UD or TKO. If he was able to hurt Floyd, I believe he'd jump on him and go for the KO. Floyd doesn't have the size and strength Oscar or Hops had to keep Tito off his game.

Mayweather would never take the fight. But if he did, and it is in Vegas, then he wins a 8-4 or 7-5 decision.

I think people on here let their hatred of Floyd cloud their judgement. Trinidad had terrible balance and footwork and could easily be outboxed by master boxers with brilliant defences (Hopkins and Wright) and an outstanding boxer-puncher like ODLH who threw away his victory by running. Floyd was a master defensive boxer who even if he did get hit clean with Tito's left hook, would take the shot quite well (he had an underrated chin because it rarely got tested and when he did take Mosley's big right hand flush, recovered quickly because of his outstanding conditioning.

Trinidad had 1 fight in 3 years when he fought Wright he was done as a fighter by that point and that was at Middleweight.

He lost to Hopkins at again Middleweight who is a top 5 ATG Middleweight.

ODLH was on his bike the whole fight and never dared to stand still for a moment and still lost the fight.

People like to say Trinidad loses against every boxer but he beat talented fast fighters like a prime ODLH and Reid, and was the only fighter to convincingly beat Whitaker even if he was faded by that point.

I don't think ODLH fight is a good example because ODLH danced around the ring for all 12 rounds flurrying in and out. Mayweather doesn't fight like that Mayweather likes to fight in the pocket and is a counter puncher he wouldn't be on his toes dancing around the ring flurrying.

Hopkins fight also isn't a good example as Mayweather wouldn't be able to be as physical as Hopkins who is really a Light Heavyweight fighting as a Middleweight.

Floyd would never fight a prime version of Trinidad anyway.

Sure he wouldn't. Fights don't happen for various reasons except when it comes to pbf then it's always his fault.

I like Trinidad better, but I also think what you said was true. Trinidad was too slow and flat footed to keep up with Mayweather who would pot shot him to a boring UD.
