    1940s rules. 15 rounds.

As before, I've included a poll that breaks down voters by boxing experience. The poll includes separate options for voters who have at least one amateur or professional boxing match.

    Who wins?

(And @djanders, boxing matches in the military do count for these purposes.)

Man, I don't like picking Floyd in polls. But then I'm of the opinion Corbett looks terrible, especially when contrasted with the reputation he has. I'll give this one a skip.

This sort of poll should become standard practice here.

I agree, and am trying to be a good example.

Feel free to do the same thing in all of your future versus threads.

In my time on this forum, we have gone from "Corbett is a top 20 all time heavyweight" to "Corbett couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag!"

For the love of Primo Carnera people, the truth was probably somewhere between!

On the fence. Circumstances would be important.

If it's just two people from the same gym going at it after class with a few spectators who stuck around out of curiosity, then probably not. If it's fighters from two different gyms and a reasonable number of people watching it, then that's much more likely to count. The stakes, seriousness, prep required, and third parties' (coaches, officials, whatever) confidence that you're ready are important.

Do you have anything in mind?

Gym versus gym for a charity event hosted at one, is my only experience outside sparring and streetfights.

    Basically unsanctioned amateurs.

I need to know my voting parameters, don't want to skew your results on a technicality!

Kind of does if you were once in the top 20 heavyweight argument.

Don't get me wrong, I have previously stood at the front of the front of the movement, to downgrade Corbett.

However, he was probably the best heavyweight on eh planet, at some point in human history.
