Interestingly, the listings, correct or not, indicate Corbett as only having a 1” reach advantage over Floyd (73” v 72”).

As per old reports and Jeffries himself, Corbett was able hurt the Boilermaker on a few occasions. Not many, but he had it in him. So, if he could land something flush, he could put Mayweather out or start him on his way to same.

Absolutely no reason for Corbett to run as he did in his fights against guys who could hurt him. As such, he could better set himself and commit to his punches. It won’t make Floyd easier to hit but with greater output (energy saved from not running) and power, this will shut Floyd down somewhat for a greater UD margin and also increase Corbett’s chances for a possible KO.

A fortunate by product. We won’t have to hear Floyd thing the thame old thong when Jas J. destroys his unblemithed record.

Fun fact: Nobody increases their output against Mayweather, ever.

True, if only. That’s two posts now without due qualification of your opinion or any indication of your “understanding”’of the game. Jolly good show.

After Johnson beat Jeffries, the Boilermaker allegedly requested that Johnson be asked if Jeffries could have his gloves.

A similarly humbled Floyd would be instead asking for Corbett’s thong as his own “special” keepsake. Thongs don’t maketh the man, the man maketh the thong. Floyd could only hope a bit of Corbett might rub off on him.

If he'd fought people at all like Corbett that might be worth considering

Sometimes less is more. In this case, less is nothing. The onus is on you to fully make your point. Not for others to assume and complete it and then refute/agree where applicable. I’ll indulge this one time, I guess you’re saying that it’s impossible for Corbett to take Floyd’s zero - since it was already taken by Castillo as per Compubox. Gotcha.

It should be noted that many people who dismiss the chances of the old time heavyweights because they are smaller, are very comfortable picking a lightweight/welterweight over a heavyweight when the situation is reversed.

It should be noted very carefully indeed.

They are effectively saying that it can be reasonable to pick a former lightweight, over the best heavyweight from another era, if you think that their era was stronger!

Btw, I’ve just noticed that you have blatantly hijacked Corbett’s user name. His gluteus display was was clearly no accident.

Or at least it would’ve been James J’s username if the internet was alive and kicking back in the Gay Nineties.

Otherwise, I believe Corbett went by the informal name Party Boy though even that alias was also stolen some years after the fact by a member of group calling themselves Jackass - no coincidence there.

I mean, losing to a super featherweight is an exceptionally low bar for a heavyweight champion.
