This was an interesting fight, how does Castillo`s performance in this bout rate out of 10?

It was a very good effort on the part of Castillo. I don’t hold it against anyone who says he deserved the nod in the first fight. But what’s commonly overlooked is that Floyd fought injured

I scored the first fight for Castillo by a point.. I thought he imposed his strength on May and CLEARLY landed the bigger shots throughout the fight

The only twelve-rounder of Mayweather's career - as far as I can remember - where wasn't the better and ascendant fighter in the second half of the fight, or at least the championship rounds. Against Judah he had a rough first four rounds, but cracked Zab's code, made the adjustments and probably won everything after the fourth, more or less. In had him only narrowly ahead after eight against Oscar, but he raised his game rounds nine to eleven to leave the result in no doubt (not much in the twelfth from what I remember, but by then it was too late for Oscar anyway). And I actually thought he was at least two rounds down against Maidana (first fight) after eight, but swept the last four to avoid the upset there, too.

Castillo (I) was completely different. Floyd strolled his way to five of the first six rounds on my card, but couldn't get anything going in the last six. He was giving away 9 lb on the night (it was his first fight at Lightweight after all) and it showed late on. He was pushed around, and Castillo did a great job of negating Mayweather's left hook by moving to his own left and not allowing Floyd to get off.

Actually had this a 113-113 draw last time I watched it, what with the point deductions. In both those cases I thought the fighter who lost a point won the round otherwise. If I absolutely had to pick, my slight inclination was that Castillo had possibly won his rounds a shade clearer than Mayweather won his, and that he was perhaps the slightly more deserving fighter on the night...But they were pretty half-hearted inclinations. Castillo was the guy who finished the fight well and looked strongest in the twelfth, maybe that had something to do with it. Better to finish well than start well in those circumstances, I guess.

Along with Maidana (I), this is the only fight where a Mayweather victory ever looked in genuine peril for me. And even then I've not so far been able to give his opponents anything more than a draw.
