Sources close to the situation have just informed us that it's looking more and more like retired pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. will make his return this summer against WBA & WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez. Mayweather was originally rumored to make his return on July 11, the same date as UFC 100, against an opponent yet to be named. Apparently, after much debate over the weight at which the fight would take place, both Mayweather and Marquez are now close to agreeing to face each other on July 18.

It's no secret that Mayweather has already been in the gym anticipating his return to the ring. A new commercial released earlier this month by AT&T to promote their LaptopConnect card depicts a bald Mayweather who appears ripped and still in tip-top shape. Details have yet to be released and it's unclear as to what weight the two fighters will actually meet at, however, considering that the proposed Mayweather vs. Marquez clash would likely take place on Pay-Per-View and in Las Vegas, it looks like HBO has made a wise decision to push his return back a week to avoid conflicting with UFC 100.

What weight would they fight at? 140 or 147? I think Floyd wins anyway.

What a bummer. I knew he would fight JMM because he is the least threat. I was hoping I would be surprised and that maybe he would fight someone who could beat him, but he did exactly what I thought. Floyd picked the easiest challenge. Unbelievable. This is a legendary great fighter?

dont count jmm out so quick. hes a great fighter, and he wont come right in at mayweather (which is exactly what floyd wants) like hatton did or like pacman would do.

If this is true then I'm glad that it'll be a week after UFC 100 because that would've destroyed me...having to be going back and forth between watching my favorite fighter and the biggest UFC event would've driven me crazy.

Great fight. Should be at a catchweight at 143.

144 is a good catch weight for the fight!

JMM has not chance at all. Floyd is too fast and he is fighting a guy smaller. This is the same as Hatton. I knew he would fight JMM before anyone mentioned Mayweather fighting him.

It is an easy decision win and much easier than Cotto or Pacman would be. That is why he is fighting him.

    Question: Who is your source?

JMM and Mayweather will probably not happen because Gayweather wanted to fight JMM at 147, which is stupid. But I do agree that Mayweather is making a come back. I want him to fight Pacquiao at 140 or Marquez at 135 or Mosley at 147.

    :good

If you want to fight at welterweight, fight welterweights.
    Who's next? Maybe Vic D - at a catchweight of 146 lbs?

**** a damn catch weight....marquez is a 135 pound featherweight as it stands....he cant or is just a dumb ass if he fights him at 140 or 147...... its a huge mismatch...right up floyds alley...big name...little threat
