floyd does not have the firepower to keep chavez off of him, nor does he have the combos to UD him......
Are you stupid? I merely said at worse he could of had a slight tear, at WORSE. There's no argument to make this appear valid, I was agreeing with LukeO that he couldn't of had a torn rotator cuff. ****ing dumbass.
Is it not your pattern? Now you are having a rotator cuff tear, albeit SLIGHT TEAR, as well? What's next? Floydiot!
135 - Chavez 147 - who knows. I'd lean towards Mayweather. Chavez was well past his prime by the time he moved up, but Mayweather has absolutely refused to face the truly tough challenges since moving up. So we'll never really know if he was an ATG.
All of this Castillo BS is getting ridiculous. Floyd Mayweather won both of those fights. Look, you can't give away the first 5 rounds CLEARLY and then expect to win, even if you do very well in the second half of the fight. You guys are acting like he was robbed or something. That being said, Chavez is better than Castillo, but I think he will have the same problem. He is going to give away too many rounds and he won't win a decision. Floyd by split decision is a very competitive fight, especially the second half.
I don't really buy into the excuse about Floyd's shoulder - not at all, actually. It obviously is a matter of speculation but I didn't see any declined use of the right in the first (8-4 JLC IMO) and Mayweather did fight more bravely in the first fight when he went inside fighting with Castillo in the later rounds. Another reason I don't think there was anything wrong with Floyd is the rematch. Even though I had that fight 117-111 (it could have been anywhere from that to 7-5) he didn't look good doing so. In fact, there was nothing that convincing about it that made me think "wow, Mayweather is a historically great lightweight!". It was much like the first fight but less entertaining and more cautious. In both fight Mayweather failed to assert himself and really be the ring general throughout. Castillo with his iron chin wouldn't be budged and just walked through everything. Chavez had the same type of chin and was a master at cutting off the ring. Ha also had a far more versatile offensive arsenal and body punching to boot. He would be the stronger guy and you saw all the trouble Castillo gave him with his holding and hitting and stuff and, to a lesser extent, even Hatton in the beginning. Mayweather's only alternative would be to move as he couldn't possibly win an inside fight or a shootout. A poster above claimed that he could do a Sweet Pea on Chavez. Do I see this? No! Mayweather, while adept, isn't as effective as you'd think when it comes to moving. When he moved against Castillo in the rematch he wasn't particularly effective - mostly negative - and he was much better off fighting Hatton and DLH than just being defensive and negative. Pea on the other hand was inside just long enogh and then stepped out with an excellent jab. That guy could really move AND be highly effective! Floyd isn't as good inside, nor does he have the ATG jab of Pea. In short: Chavez breaks him down slowly, the first half could be pretty even but after that Chavez turns it on and roughs him up. Ha can't keep him off, not even with running. And Chavez never stops; look at how he just ignored Taylor's combinations and got on with his combinations punching. Floyd's defense wouldn't work with Chavez' varied attack and the long right hand of Chavez would find Floyd backing straight up like he does sometimes. I think he's smart enough to last the distance in a 9-3 type of affair but he might get TKO'ed. Most definitely he would get outworked at the least. Chavez was a stamina beast with a high activity level. Floyd's would drop as it did against DLH and Castillo in spurts. Somtimes some fancy potshotting, yes, but not nearly enough against the constant activity. That's no slight on Floyd but rather a testament to Chavez' greatness at 130 and 135. Sorry for the long post. What I'd do like to hear is some reasons as to why Mayweather would win. Speed, potshotting, movement, defense... Or what?
