Floyd Mayweather Jr Vs Kelly Pavlik @160: VOTE!

Very close poll. I voted for PBF- he may be a lot smaller but skills are skills and for me he outboxes Pavlik to win a decision victory. Correct me if I am wrong, and to be honest I don't see it happening, but did Hayman mention a while back that PBF could be tempted to move up to Middleweight for the '6 weight champ' tag?

 

How though? PBF will see the right hand coming a mile away. If Pavlik had the ability to crowd PBF and was a good in fighter, he might have a chance but Pavlik is very slow footed and isn't an in fighter at all. He's just a jab jab right guy and completely predictable and slow. And Pavlik dossn't really know how to rough guys up on the inside.

 

It only takes one punch from Pavlik...

Mayweather doesn't hit too hard either...

I doubt Pavlik could even hit Floyd. Floyd would make him look like an *******.

 

Floyd wont even fight the best welterweights or light middle weights, no way he fights the current middle weight king. He is too afraid of losing the 0.

Could Mayweather avoid Vitali Klitschko and outbox him to a decision? Size does make a difference. Admittedly, Mayweather is more skillful, but when you're fighting a guy who's the best part of a foot taller than you, can hit you from halfway across the ring and who could eat your punches up like jelly babies and keep coming forward, you're in serious trouble. It's just not reasonable to believe PBF is going to stay out of Pavlik's range all night. Pavlik walks Mayweather down and does serious damage.

 

This makes no sense! I really can't believe people are even considering a PBF victory here.

Pavlik is so much bigger PBF would have to hit him with the ringpost to do any damage. When you're against a guy you can't hurt, he's just going to walk you down and beat the hell out of you. Even if PBF gets on his bike, he's not going to be able to shut KP out for 12; against a much taller, longer guy, you can't avoid confrontation at some point. As long as Pavlik aims for the body, punches will land.

In any case, is Mayweather even going to land anything? As soon as he moves forward, Pavlik isn't just going to back up - he's going to be throwing punches back. If can't gain a fighter's respect - especially a much longer fighter - you're not going to touch them.

 

People cant use the hopkins fight to say Mayweather would win. Pavlik wasnt able to walkdown Hopkins, 1. Hopkins is crafty. 2. Hopkins's power was a difference. Pavlik respected his power when he found out he was being hurt after all these flush punch. Pavlik wasnt no more effective.

Mayweather DONT have that power to make Pavlik doubt himself.

 

for this, and feel free to disagree, the difference in skill is FAR greater than the difference in size. Pavlik is not a Julian Jackson style one punch knockout artist: he's a heavy handed pressure fighter. Pressure fighter's need to pressure opponent, hit them and wear them down. Pavlik would hardly lay a glove on mayweather. I think we've seen enough fights to know size isn't everything and pavlik as he is now, does not have to ability to cut off the ring, the movement to catch floyd or the speed to trouble him.

 

Floyd has no business trying to fight Pavlik. What weight would he come in? He would get outweighed by close to 20lbs. Hopkins had the size and power to keep Pavlik in check but Mayweather is much smaller and he would have a hard time moving away and trying to keep Pavlik off for 12 rounds. I have serious doubts that Floyd can even clean out 147.

And not only that beat him. These Mayweather nuthugger's are just waitng for him to probably go pee in their favorite cup.

Paul Williams wasn't a middleweight and he comfortably beat Winky Wright at 160. And Winky poses far more problems to a guy of Floyd's style than Pavlik. Not saying he would win, but considering he's already won titles up to 154, and he'll be far more skilled, far quicker than Pavlik.
