He has fought way more southpaws than the average fighter and he has a great lead right hand and a great high guard. He has lost what a total of 3 rounds against judah out of all of the south paws he fought?

Along with Bhop he is actually one of the best performers against southpaws of the last 20 years but because he was too passive in the early rounds against Judah and dropped a few rounds we have the myth that he has a weakness against southpaws.

And I dont know why people continually parrot that "the shoulder roll doesnt work for southpaws"

    1. watch morales-pac, morales uses the should roll several times effectively
    2. PBF-Ortiz, just his last fight he used it frequently with great success

    3. His high guard and footwork give him flexibility, he isnt tied down to one move for defense even though the shoulder roll is still a viable option

Floyd has beat all the southpaws he's faced, but he's looked more vulnerable each time out. It's not a black & white issue; he has issues getting his lead foot on the outside, and therefore has trouble adjustiing to land his right and evade the straight left. That's why he often adopts the plan of cutting the ring off and backing up his opponents that don't have the mobility to control the angle, and end up getting broken down by accurate combinations and brutal body work.

He's got a couple good wins and couple decent ones against lefties. I think it's safe to say "he doesn't struggle with them."

    Ortiz: B+
    Judah: B
    Mitchell: C-
    Corley: C+

Were any of his opponents below 140 southpaw?

Prime Judah is much better than Ortiz. That was a high risk, low reward fight for Floyd.

Based on what? Victor Ortiz landing a total of 10 punches?

The moments right before Ortiz butted him are a two or three of the cleanest shots and the most visible momentary loss of control from Mayweather that we've seen in years. Floyd was winning every round up to that point, but it was telling to see him walk into that right hook and see him back straight back into the ropes.

Judah won 3 and possible 4 of the first 6 rounds of their fight, and was able to make Floyd touch the canvas. Getting his foot on the outside and throwing lead lefts, 1-1-2's, and countering Mayweather's reaching offense with right hooks was all that led to his sucess.

Corely had him visibly hurt, and Mayweather fought very aggressively to nullify his offense, and got hit more often than we are used to seeing throughout.

Even when Floyd is winning and breaking down his opponent late in a fight, I see him take hard lefts more consistently than he takes other shots in other fights. It doesn't invalidate his otherwise clear wins, but it's worth noting. He's by far not the absolute best at getting his lead foot on the outside, and so he loses control of the angle at times, and it costs him, despite the victory.

People make WAY too much out of this sequence. I count one clean shot, hilarious.
