    Are you serious?

"He almost seemed exhilarated by the rush of such a close and competitive battle and excited about having another break from what has become the norm of being in such one-sided contests that he often himself looks discontentedly bored."

    Again, Are you serious?

Exhilarated? The last thing Mayweather is, is 'Exhilarated'! This was a cherry-pick that nearly went VERY wrong! You think he wants to earn $32+ Mill by being in exhilarating fights? Please!!

maybe this was his plan. this 'poor performance' will bring more interest into a rematch since is nobody left @ 147 in GBP's stable with higher profile than Maidana. :think

    Hi Holy Grail,

Since you are a girl and you know nothing about professional fighting, i'm going to explain some rules.

Every fighter should wear padded gloves, Maidana's original gloves had no approved padding. So that makes the gloves illegal to fight with.

That's why he had another pair, but this time with padding.

Do you mind never posting on this forum again?

    Sincerely,

    Everybody.

I don't want to see this. It was a clear win for FLoyd. Just because it was competitive for the 1st 6 doesn't mean Maidana truly deserves a rematch. Maybe if he scored a knockdown or something to that effect, but not for a unanimous decision loss.

How much of a chance would he actually have in a rematch? I really don't think FLoyd would allow himself to stay on the ropes for such long periods in a rematch. He'd utilize his jab from the start, keep the fight in the center of the ring and the few instances he's by the ropes or pressed onto them, he'll just side-step in either direction and get back out to the center of the ring. It would look more like the last 6 rounds of their fight last night.

A rematch would more than likely end in a more 1 sided decision. I'm sure Mayweather would correct his mistakes in a rematch.

    Mayweather now, Mayweather forever.

He should really just box on route to a boring 12 round ud and stop fighting off the ropes.

Did you see the interview? Maybe watch it rather than project your idea of what Mayweather (or the villainous caricature of him that exists in your biased mind) should be thinking based on your preconceived notion.

Yes, he was in a clear adrenaline rush in the afterglow, with no hesitation and none of the dismissive subject-hijacking evasiveness in his reply to a proposed rematch that has come to characterize such interviews with him as much as his elusiveness between the bells has come to characterize his in-ring style.

Haters need to figure out their platform and present a unified front.

Some are claiming he is going to run scared of a Maidana rematch because it was a 'cherry pick gone terribly wrong", yet others claim he will duck Khan and/or Pacquiao by again cherry picking Maidana in a rematch. :nut

    Yes.

No need to do this again when he only has a few fights left to go.

Idk about a UD, but Maidana does have a strong case he actually beat Mayweather. He does deserve a rematch win or lose.

For what possible reason? Huge mismatch, less competitive than a rematch would be even with Mayweather's adjustments taken into consideration.

Both have improved since they met, but Maidana under Garcia >>>> Khan under Hunter.

If they met now at welterweight in a rematch of their own, Khan would leave the building on a stretcher. That is down to each man's relative size and strength moving up and wearing 147, as well as styles and their aforementioned respective improvements under their new coaches.

The supposed advantages Khan would have over Mayweather - speed, ability to box on the outside - are not really advantages. Mayweather is faster (shot for shot, Khan throws more combos which creates the illusion to some people of being 'faster') and the better out-boxer. The long-standing myth that someone even remotely as fast as him jabbing and flurrying on the outside track will prove a problem for Mayweather is just that: a myth. Nothing has ever occurred in the ring to support it. On the other hand, there were glimpses in the JLC/DLH/Cotto bouts and some others that a heavy pressuring bombs-away roughhousing style with Mayweather getting shelled from unexpected angles might work. It just never worked enough, until Maidana catching Mayweather with a perfectly game-planned version of such a style with Mayweather at 37 having slowed down just enough to not cope with it like he once might have. (though he still dealt with it enough to get the W fair & square, close but clear...)

I pretty much agree with IB , on most of his points anyway. Maidana *might* not have even found his ceiling yet, despite not looking as good as he did against Broner - I think thats entirely because Floyd is leagues above Broner and Maidana actually was a better fighter last night than he was against Broner. Whos to say he cuoldnt condition for 3 more high-RPM rounds, and Garcia couldnt also help him make some adjustments?

Khan barely made it out of the Maidana fight, with the ref constantly jumping in even with no holding while Khan was hurt. Not quite calling foul play on it, but Maidana is a much better fighter now than then but I dont think the same can be said for Khan.

    1) It was a majority decision, not unanimous.

    2) Even though Mayweather took it close but clear and is more likely to make necessary tweaks for next time, nothing else out there promises to be remotely as competitive as Mayweather vs. Maidana II would be, let alone how competitive Mayweather vs. Maidana I was.

Khan was able to stunt on Collazo, but Collazo fought like a complete and utter ****** for the most part. (and is shot to bits and has looked awful since his bad luck with Berto, only landing on the PPV for having kayoed the also shot, ruined, uninspired and terribly inactive Ortiz by countering his predictable rushes...which didn't actually mean anything...)
