They were initially supposed to have a rematch in September 2008, but Floyd said he was retiring. They probably just couldn’t come to terms over the negotiations of the bout.

I’m glad it didn’t happen, it would have been a waste.

I always felt Floyd downloaded the necessary info on the first bout and a rematch would have been one-sided with Floyd boringly outboxin' Oscar, especially considerin' Oscar finale decline being closer and closer.

There was thread years back called fight of the week by koolkevin. Many here posted their scorecards on that fight. You should be able to find it with the Search. My scorecard, Floyd clearly won as past it Oscar gassed.

Most of his opponents were younger than him including those supposedly over the hill. Who were all these young guys he was ducking?

    ok I'll bite.
Hoya, he was older, part time boxer since 2003, Mosley, Older by many yrs,
also over the hill, and almost ten yrs past prime. Marquez, older/
best fighting was done at featherweight. Judah , same age, but
was past prime physically when he faced May Jr. wear and tear
    of his career.
Cotto, younger but was four and three in his fights after May Jr.
He was clearly on the downside of his career.
Pac , May Jr. waited a five full years to finally get in the ring
against him, conveniently after some tough fights, and getting
koed. Pac clearly wasn't the fighter he was when the fight
    should've happened in 2010.
He fought Connor Mcgregor in 2017.
The Ring's top 10 welters of that year's ranking were Thurman, Spence, Porter, Brook,
Garcia, Peterson, Mattyson, Horn ,Vargas, Pac
How did May Jr not fight anyone on that list other than Pac?
What did McGregor do in a boxing ring that was more impressive
    than any of them?
Conversely Pac fought four of them.
Some of you have the opinion May Jr. walked on water.
That's fine if that's what you believe.
My opinion is he was the grand illusionist at welter.
    Smoke and mirrors.....

Mayweather's career ended in 2015, McGregor was a gimmick fight to break Marcianos record.
    Maidana
    Guerrero
    Ortiz
    Alvarez
    were all younger than Mayweather.

Big fights almost never happen when they should have.
Usyk and Fury should have fought earlier
Holyfield and Lewis should have fought earlier
    Stevenson and Kovalev never happened
    Beterbiev and Ward never happened
Beterbiev and Bivol should have fought earlier
Klitschko and Fury should have happened earlier
