Floyd Mayweather. I think he had quicker hands and was more precise with his punches. Decision.

Unless ofcourse Pea goes Hurtado on him with overhand left! Pummeling Mayweather into submission!

Mayweather is one of the very few that I do think could have beaten Whitaker.
The comparisons as previously stated like Judah-Mayweather and McGirt-Whitaker are the closest we have to predicting a victor.
Judah gave Floyd fits early, as did McGirt trouble Whitaker in the first fight.

I almost never go against Pernell Whitaker, but this is the rarest of times that I have to say, if I was forced to bet on this, I would pick Floyd.

I consider it about as razor-thin as you can get in terms of who is better at their best, H2H. But I do rank Floyd higher in greatness, and then the matter of who would win in a best of three, I don't even have a strong feeling on how it would go or who would win. But, more importantly, I don't even have a weak feeling either. I don't know what to think about that. They're both among the top 20-30, at the worst I would rank them, for p4p greatness. And that's at worst. More like late teens to early twenties, for how I do it.

...I cannot believe that Pete is not even alive right now and that Floyd has been gone this long and he seems to have had a nose relatively pretty clean, considering his history and the fact that he's a retired ex-boxer involved in promotion.

Whitaker wins on points. The jab is the key here and Whitaker has the better one.

Was Floyd ever vulnerable so much to overhand lefts? To me rights were the problems most of the time.
Also, if the match-up was at lower weight classes, blud could pop and give huge trouble to Pernell, doubt he would get KOed but he would get gunshy and give huge occasions to Floyd too.
    Such a fascinating meet...

Floyd P4P and H2H. I think Floyd just has better wins overall. He dominated for a longer period of time. H2H there is something about Whitaker's style that isn't pleasing to the judges. Whitaker has had many fights that didn't go his way and I think it was style related. Maybe the judges felt he didn't engage enough or didn't throw enough power punches. I honestly don't know why. I think that in and of itself favors Floyd in that matchup. Floyd has had his troubles in the past vs southpaws but he is bigger than Pernell, longer, faster (IMO) than Pernell, hits harder, equally as hard to hit, better chin and just as if not more (arguable) skilled. I think overall Floyd brings more to the table.

How can Mayweather have better wins? Its not possible.

    1. Julio Ceaser Chavez - dominated only to receive a bogus draw.
    2. Roger Mayweather
    3. Rafel Pineda
    4.Greg Haugen
    5. Jorge Paez
    6. Fred Pendleton
    7. Julio Ceaser Vasquez- this was insane as Vasquez was a dominate champion at JR.middleweight and Pea went up and beat him.
    8. Buddy Mgirt X 2
    9.Azumha Nelson
    10. Jose Luis Ramirez

Pendleton and Mayweather went on to become world champions. Nelson would go on to knock out Fenech.
Greg would go on to hand Camacho his first loss.
And Pea utterly dominated them all with the exception of the Mayweather knock down.
Notice a trend? No weight clauses or someone almost 40 years old.
And lets not forget that I thought that Pea beat Oscar at worse case a draw. And he DROPPED Oscar.

See his fight vs Nelson and then show me a Mayweather bout where Floydd employed his jab like that against an ALL TIME GREAT.

And Floyd didn’t even jab that much to the chest in this fight.

How old was Mosley in this fight? 38 years old???
And no his jab was nowhere close to what Pea did to Nelson who basically ate a jab every second.

Dude was pfp number 3, lineal 147, and bigger than Floyd. Nelson was totally unaccomplished and had moved up to the wrong weightclass. And this isn’t the only example of Floyd jabbing. He didn’t even jab much to the chest in this one.
