I know you guys are going to say this poll comes up time and time again, but this poll has an added "twist". We're are going to match them up based on their 154 lb incarnations. Who wins it? Whitaker on the night he fought J.C. Vazquez or Floyd on the night he fought ODLH?

I don't know, i'll still have to say Whittaker, i just think even at the higher weight he has a defense better than Floyd has seen. But i personally think Floyd is still pretty versatile at any weight, regardless that the rest of the board will likely say he lost a dimension at this higher weight. He changed plans against Oscar when it called for it.

This could actually be an exciting fight.

    At 154?

My god, Lil Floyd murders him. Whitaker at best had an average chin. That was not really a problem at 135-147 as Sweet Pea's defence was that good, but if a limited fighter like Vazquez decked an out of shape Whitaker, I dread to think how Lil Floyd tortures him.

Mayweather TKO10 in a painfully one sided fight, where Whitaker shows great heart, but little else.

Whitaker close UD, maybe a bit wider at 154 though

I voted Mayweather by decision because simply, he looked more comfortable at the weight vs DLH than Pea did vs Vasquez.

I know I`ll probly catch some stick for that choice & Id take Whitaker at WWT or LWT vs Floyd but the Whitaker that fought Vasquez looked like an imposter to the man that masterclassed McGirt just 1 fight before.

I thought the Vasquez fight was the beginning of the end of Whitaker`s TRUE prime yrs & Floyd would obviously go on to look good vs Hatton, just as good as he did before facing DLH & was still in his own prime yrs without doubt.

    Thats my view anyway.

Ps. KO/TKOs should not even be an option on this poll.

Whitaker would still win because in every way he is Floyd's stylistic nightmare, but it would be a much closer fight at 154 than at 135. I'm not sure I can fully justify this statement, but I think Floyd looked more comfortable at 154 - despite not impressing against Oscar. I think he would have been a more successful light-middleweight than Pernell if they had both pursued title careers in that division.

Whitaker looked that bad against Vazquez, not to mention fat, that I disagree, as Whitaker had at best an average chin.

If he had an at best average chin, Trinidad would have obliterated him with the amount of shots he landed on him.

That fight really proved Whitaker's durability.

Whitaker was a cutie and a defensive genius, he needed all them skills, when way past his best, to get up off the floor early and avoid being stopped by Trinidad. I am not, for one second, knocking Whitaker's fighting heart, he had an excellent one, even late on his career.

But as Uncle Roger showed early on, Whitaker was far from Chavloesque in the chin department.

He tasted canvas a couple of times but he was never rattled or stunned & always got up no problem, I`ll admit his defence played more of a part than the strength of his chin but to go your entire career without getting properly KOd & fighting much bigger men for a large part of your career when past your own prime goes against the suggestion that he had at least an average chin IMO... he must be credited with `at least a good chin.`

Kudos, a good argument; I concede Bill Butcher; Whitaker had a fair chin.

    Danm! @ 154lbs...
    Well played bro.

I still picked Pea because it was gonna be obvious.
But since I seemed to have voted without looking first...lol
I'll stick to my Pea vote.

I do think a lot of people are voting on what their favourite writers (thus pear pressure) are telling them, rather than their gut feeling, and thus their logic, at what is meant to be a Junior Middleweight (154lbs) match up.
