Floyd Mayweather of today would def lose to a prime whitaker. If both were in their prime it would be a real close fight.
I think Floyd would pressure him a little more than his normal style. I think he could find openings countering Sweet P's jab, but it would be a helluva fight if you enjoy the science of boxing. I would favor PBF, because of his ability to adjust and I think he has the slight edge in terms of athletic ability.
Floyd is better than Whitaker in almost every category. He is being underrated here simply because people dislike him. Skill wise Whitaker is nearly unmatched but I hesitate to see how another "little" guy is going to win by having a minuscule advantage in boxing against a stronger, faster, bigger, and better opponent.
So were talking about lightweight (1990) Whitaker vs. welterweight (today's) Mayweather? If this is the case I see no other choice but to pick Mayweather who is already taler and longer now he has a 12 lbs weight advantage.
That were I thought he was at his best. About that yeah your right I should have worded it differently. Hey, he was still prime at welter though.
Your a biased fool who probably had to look up Pernell Whitaker's name to figure out who he is. It's pretty easy to see where your southpaw comment is coming from.
Whitaker, comfortable but competitive UD. Superior Jab, superior workrate, and the fact that he got going right from the opening bell as opposed to taking the first few rounds to adjust to his opponent's style.
