There rarely is a single creator for anything in a martial art or sport. Hard to give a single person credit for anything like that. The earliest fighters i've seen in the style you want specifically(defensive, slickish) are from the 30's IMO though, if that makes you feel better.
You know your full of it right? Remember welterweight isn't Floyd's best weight class. Watch him from 130-140. You don't know what your talking about.
:thumbsup thanks man, I know I come off as a dickhead sometimes, but I'm still trying to learn the sport fully and you seem to have more knowledge than a lot of people on the general forum
psst, don't give me props i don't deserve. i'm probably only a year or two older than you and what i know is very very limited... My advice is to watch fights from all eras on youtube, lurk the Classic forum, and read the right books( i have some suggestions if you're interested).
Randy Turpin did quite well against a still prime SRR. By all accounts, SRR was behind against Turpin in their 2nd fight and SRR had to KO him to win, which he did. Is Turpin a better fighter than Floyd or RJJ?
Why is it that all the dumbest people get attracted to threads like these? :huh Prescott isn't a better fighter than Amir Khan because he beat him once and Turpin isn't a better fighter than Robinson. A lot of people say Muhammad Ali is GOAT, and yet, if you ask Muhammad Ali who his idol was, he'd say Sugar Ray Robinson Robinson would run a clinic against Mayweather :hi:
