The problem here is that Mayweather has spent the bulk of his career at a lighter weight class, and didn't ascend to welterweight until he was near past it. So placing him in the ring around age 30 with a natural welterweight who just so happened to be the best ever at that class is a mismatch.

Still, probably top 5. Kittikasem, Chiquita I and past prime win over Arce is ace on it's own. Deadly hitter as well and easy to root for. I prefer Carbajal-Gonzalez I to Gonzalez-Sorajutingtong as well.

Getting tooled past your best by Baby Jake is harder to make excuses for than Chiquita was for Chang though :yep

By the way if you get the chance watch Baby Jake Vs Dave McAuley, probably the craziest size difference you'll ever see in a fight :good

 

Orlando Canizales was not really a 90s fighter.he crossed over the two era's and was past his best by 94.With more appropriate matchmaking he should have had his big fights at Bantam by 1990.

 

Yep. Jake had some balls. McAuley was a huge Flyweight.

 

It's an interesting one because we haven't seen Robinson against many defensive boxers but the ones he did face, Galivan and Tommy Bell, gave him close tricky contests by all accounts.

Robinson is 1 of the few who had the skill and speed to break through Mayweather's defence. Mayweather would look to box and both being very quick land some of their leads in a bit of a chess match, once he takes a few of Robinson's shots he'd look to potshot on the backfoot. Robinson would figure he could step it up after Floyd after getting the better of the exchanges and would look to walk Floyd down. Floyd backs up and becomes defensive giving SRR the initiative but potshots some rounds into the bag

Robinson 8-4 or 9-3 but he may well stop Floyd too

As someone who doesn't follow the lower weights and a Too Sharp fan I take it your deadly serious about that statement :good

 

Yeah, although he was clearly one of the best lower weight fighters of his era and, on ability alone (mainly aesthetic quality although he essentially 'proved' himself against Rafa and Montiel past prime and above fly) but gets way overrated based on what he actually did...which was maintain a high ranking without fighting anyone very good.

But I'm a fan, same as I am a fan of Ricardo Lopez.
