Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez- Who wins @154?

By the time Canelo and FLoyd face each other next year it will be a closer fight than most people think.

If it is ever going to happen, Canelo needs to drag his feet. Every year from here on out, Mayweather gets older and slower. Canelo gets older and stronger.

You wil be proven wrong if this fight takes place on dec... Cotto was never the same seens the Margo fight, I can see Canelo busting his face real early in the fight forcing a stoppage late in the fight... Hell I wouldnt be surprise if he quits again.

 

No one said Cotto didnt get "busted up" dumbass, Fact is Mayweather was getting bust aswell, not ass bad like Cotto but he did.

 

This. Cotto is getting older, and Canelo is younger, stronger, and bigger. Canelo is far more skilled and hits way harder than a one-eyed, shot, plaster-less Margarito. Historically, Cotto's stamina is golden unless he's boxing and using lots of lateral movement on a moving target (the first Margarito fight), or if he gets hit a lot (the first Margarito fight, Pacquiao, even Mayweather later in their fight.) His stamina is fine when he can pressure his opponent and not get hit too much in return.

Against Canelo, he'd have to box and move and evade punishment for 12 solid rounds without getting roughed up in close, and he's never shown he could do that. I expect Canelo to fall behind for the first 6-8 rounds, and then start to catch up with Cotto and grind him down for a late-rounds stoppage.

As for a Mayweather fight, it all depends on when the fight happens. If it happens early next year, Mayweather UD 8-4 or 7-5. If it happens late next year or early 2014, I favor Canelo. Mayweather has never looked great at 154, and this older, slower, more stationary Mayweather could be in a lot of trouble against a younger, bigger, stronger opponent with solid skills and a methodical, patient style. He won't get stupid or overaggressive on Mayweather like most of his opponents. He's a tougher matchup for Mayweather than many think he'll be, and the scales tip more in Canelo's matchup with time. Mayweather would win now, for sure, but I don't think he'll be able to take him after another year and a half or so.

 

Right now May would stop him, Canelo has no head movement
